March 02 issue of Consumer reports test I35 and other upscale Sedans

Just to let you guys know the March 02 Consumer reports tested the I35,TLS,Xtype,ES300 and the A4. The TLS won in acceleration 6.6 to 60@,1/4 was 15.2 @ 94mph vs the I35's 7.0 to 60mph,1/4 was 15.6 @ 92mph. E300 finished 1st with the TLS and I35 midpack/TLS edging out the I35 according to C/R. They usually have some pretty bad times on cars I have noticed, take a look if you guys get a chance.

Oh God, I can already hear the moans and crying from the 2k2 crowd. Yet another mag that can't drive

CR seems to be hit or miss with thier times. I noticed they got a 15.6 out of the Altima V6 also.

What really surprised me was that they got a 14.9 out of the WRX. I find this very impressive for the WRX seeing they state in the mag that they launch all cars off idle. Years ago they got a 13.7 out of a Supra TT. That was on par with what MT got at the time. Maybe CR knows how to drive turbos

I read that same article. Did you catch the part where they commented on the I35 and said you could get the same exact car and save almost 10 grand if you went with it's twin, the Maxima?

Was the I35 the only 4-spd? What happened to the A4? That would probably be the car of choice for people on this board, that car kicks. ES300 is probably nice but it's not a young person's car. Maxima is. ahahahahaahaha j/k

Has anyone seen faster I35 acceleration times? (real life, not mags) Also what real life times does the auto 2k2 max run? (Just want to compare the two, same exact engine)

What did you measure that with?

I've seen 0-60 in 6.9s from Motortrend for a 2k2 I35. CR tends to be pretty close to real world conditions acceleration times. They don't brake torque, or do drop clutch starts. I think very few of us would do that to our $30k+ cars if we owned them.
