Was curious as to what the Top Speed of my Max was...
So on the way home from work tonight at around 11:30PM I decided I'd go for it on the Garden State Parkway... I'm doing 70mph in 5th so i downshift to 4th and nail it... RESULT: 135mph in 4th gear (electronically limited)... It was still pulling nicely though and i had all of 5th gear left so I'm sure if i somehow got rid of the govenor it would pull easily to at least 150mph. Anyone know if a Field's SFC (fuel controller) would work on a 2000 Maxima?? Cuz i had that on my 1996 Honda Civic and it completely got rid of the govenor. |
You shuldnt be driving thst fast. But if you got rid of the governor it would go much faster, in the 140s for sure.

SteveChicagosc just got the Fields controller
but he's got a 4th gen. Ask him about it.

Hey Adam, when you used the Field SFC, how hard was it to use. Also, anyone around here have a dyno wher ei can test adn tune? Maybe you know how to? I think i might get this and see what happens. :) You simply push a button to control +/- whatever % you want to raise or lower the fuel curve. As far as the speed limiter goes...theres just a switch on the back of the unit...where you can turn on/off the speed limiter. This unit is MUCH more user friendly than other fuel controllers such as the A'PEXi S-AFC. Installation requires alot of wire cutting though. |
how much does the Field SFC run, plus other then the govener taken off what are the other advantages?
|
you can find a Field SFC for about....
$200-225 brand new.
$150 or so used. it allows you to adjust the fuel curve +/- 30%. |
Just spoke to someone from...
Group A Autosports in Cali...one of the few authorized dealers in the U.S. and they told me that the SFC should work in the 2000 Maxima...BUT they couldnt include a wiring diagram for this car so we'd have to wire it up ourselves using a Nissan manual...
Then I asked if we'd be able to remove the top speed limiter and he said he couldn't say...he said "if the car accepts it...yes...if not then no" <~~~well DUH. But he said it will definitely allow for control of the fuel curve from +/- 30%. I think I'll be giving it a try. PS: don't buy it from Group-A cuz their prices SUCK. They told me $299 when i bought my last one for $225 at a show brand new. Call around. |
so will it accept a 4th gen? any hp gain?

i'm sure if they said it will work on a 2k...
Originally posted by wicked1044 so will it accept a 4th gen? any hp gain? if u have intake/exhaust/etc you will see power gains because you will have the extra fuel needed to supply the extra air coming in and out of your engine... exactly how much? i dunno... but if you have forced induction (supercharger/turbo) then you will see a HUGE hp increase because it will allow you to finely tune your air/fuel ratio... with my civic i saw almost a 20hp gain at the same boost level by simply tuning the fuel curve (and VTEC activation point)... |
here you go !!!!
|
the hyper r is the one we are talking about right?
|
yep...
you want the Hyper R
