18's appear to have more wheel gap?!?
 

i just had my 18's installed today and there seems to be more wheel gap between the wheel and fender than the 17's. is this just the eyes playin tricks on me or is there some kinda explanation behind why theres more gap for 18s than 17?? now im DEFINITELY thinkin about lowerin the ride like in a couple of weeks. gd on springs!! everyone go to GD section!!:D

but seriously doesn't wheelgap increase as the profile of tire decreases, that would explain the increase in wheel gap you see, I guess....

they may appear to have more gap, but they prolly don't. I know that when i got new rims the height went up .1". But that's about it.

Since you used the wrong tire size wheel gap is evn more noticeable.

Eliminating the wheel gap is tough to do with the Maxima. When you plus size in wheels, you want to stay consistent with the overall diameter of the tire. Because of this, the wheel gap will always remain constant. Keep in mind when you have new wheels and new tires, it's the tires that give you extra height (the tires are new and taller compare to the old worn tires). Different style wheels and different sizes can create an illusion of wheel gap or the elimination of the wheel gap.

When you lower the car, the fender arch comes closer to the top of the tire (12 o'clock position). This makes the car look a lot better in terms of wheel gap, but you can't fill in the whole gap. You will always have an increasing gap at the 9 o'clock and 3 o'clock positions. The only way I see practical in the battle against wheel gaps is to have the fender molded to fit the wheel better. And then the question leads; is that really practical?

yeah i guess first of all the max isnt made being a sports car so its normal to have a lot of wheel gap at the 12o clock position like u said. my wheels only 225/40 so its not too thick. if i lower it, it should defly look a lot better. :)
