NY Int'l Auto Show -- Nissan -- My take

The only really wild looking "concept" car Nissan had was the Quest. Looked amazing, for those in the mini-van market.

That new 350Z is really hot. They're going to be offering 3 different "packages" for this: standard, touring, and track. The lowest price point is something like $26k, with the highest being mid 30k. Looks nicely competitive. Strangely, it doesn't offer a sunroof, like all previous Z's had. At the very least, I'd expect a translucent roof panel to let a little light in. Same problem the Audi TT coupe has.

The Maxima for 2003 = 2002 and seems... well, the same feeling people had in 1999--"Hey, it still feels like it did in 1995!". I do not feel at all inspired to leave my 4th gen yet. However, the Infinity G35... WOW--that car is what the Maxima SHOULD BE by now. If it weren't so damned expensive...

The Altima still looks hot on the outside, chintzy on the inside. If you could swap in the Maxima dash, it would be worth considering. I can't believe how crummy that instrument cluster looks.

Overall, it was a great show -- best range of concept cars ever. IMHO, the Acura NO-X took the cake. If they could really make that car, I'd be willing to sell my condo and live in it.
