Brakes? I don't need no stinkin' brakes! (HELP!)

Thought the brakes were getting a little weak the past couple of weeks. Sucks since I just bought the car from the dealership. :(

- Having to crush the brakes to the floor to get it to stop.
- Slight squeal from the brakes when pressed down.
- Pressure is there, seem to be getting fluid pressure (if that makes sense) but the metal to metal just doesn't seem to be happening.

Going to inspect the brakes and take a couple of pics if I can, maybe that'll help.

Thoughts?

Something is definitely wrong if you have to mash the pedal to stop... Get it fixed... If you just got it from the dealer... take it back to get it fixed...

It would help if you describe your car... I'm assuming it's new.

sounds like one of your brake pads are sticking. You might want to sand and grease (hi-temp) the calaper.

1. Check your front and rear brake pads, they have wear indicators.
2. I would bleed the system, maybe you have an air bubble in the lines?
3. Add Blue goo, this will help stop the squeaking.

Good luck.

PS - One note, front calipers compress, rear calipers can't be compressed they need to be rotated in (I learned this the hard way). This is on a 4th gen, not sure about other gens.

it almost sounds that you don't have much brake fluid, check the reservour and see if it needs some, it's on the drivers side right next to the firewall and yes, maybe bleeding the brakes would also help

Okay, possible issues:

1. Extremely low fluid level
2. Air in the system, they need to be bled
3. Weak master cylinder

If you just bought the car, the dealer should fix it, even if it's used.
