I figured out what's wrong with my Cattman y-pipe

This is the original diagnosis of the problem

Well .. I raised my car just now and took a look-see under the car.

I have a Cattman y-pipe and yesterday I said that after a hard launch ... my exhaust tone completely changed.

I lifted the car and noticed that my Cattman y-pipe is pretty much rusted through on the bottom portion of the piece that connects the flex section to the main body of the y-pipe. I thought it was stainless steel? :gotme:

Anyways ... it's rusted through and now is leaking exhaust fumes from that spot.

Does anyone know if these y-pipes are guaranteed not to rust?

Am I screwed or will Cattman replace/repair the pipe or at least the cracked portion?

I admit that my hard launch could have jiggled some things loose ... but it definately didn't cause it to rust like that!

A Hard launch should not kill a Y pipe. C'mon, this is afterall, a performance aftermarket product we're talking about, right? Give Biran Catts a call and see what he'll work out with you.

HA!! High Quality American Craftsmanship is what we have here. leaving names aside, You should ***** that manufacturer out for selling you crap, then buy something made by someone else.

And if it was supposed to be stainless and you got non-stainless, then you've got a good legal case for a refund/credit/replacement/repair. all depends on how you play the ballgame.

It is disappointing/bad/dishonest if Cattman sold him a non-stainless pipe, even if it was a simple order descrepancy. I assume there are no "markings" per se discerning a mild steel pipe from a stainless pipe. :gotme:

IIRC, ohboiya is in Canada, so stainless is definitely warranted....

Should this speculation be true, nothing less than a brand new stainless next day shipped y-pipe would be the right thing to do.

To be fair to Cattman ... I thought he only sold stainless?

Supplier may have not used stainless.......and at one time Cattman pipes were jet hot coated mild steel. But by the time the 2k Maxes came out, I thought they were all stainless as well.....hopefully Cattman can clarify.

Disappointing none the less.....
