Selling Maxima with mods or without?

I am pretty set on selling my maxima and picking up a 2002 BMW M3. I am just wondering if i am better off selling it with all the mods or taking them out. This is what i have:

2001 Nissan Maxima SE 5 Speed Sterling Mist/Frost Leather- Auto climate control, dual power/heated seats, moonroof, Bose in dash and factory 6 disc changer, side airbags and heated mirrors.
Extras- Stillen Body kit, intake, front strut tower brace, rear stabalizer bar, y-pipe and short throw shifter. Joshua Tree Aluminum dash kit. Momo shift knob, e-brake boot, shifter boot and racing pedals. Clear lights front and rear. 2k2 Xenon Headlights. Custom Maxima grill and valence. Carsound racing cat. Eibach lowering springs with Tokico blue shocks. 18 inch Axis Se7en's with 245/40 Nitto NT555 Extreme Tires. Greddy Evo Catback exhaust. Anniversary Edition Door sills. Pioneer DVD based voice navigation system and XM satalite radio. Blaupunkt dvd/mp3/cd player. Clarion 7 inch widescreen monitor. Eclipse 10inch sub in custom box with 2 Eclipse amps and Ora Bass Shakers under each front seat. Platinum 33% tint on all windows. Yellow wire loom under hood. Car has 35,000 miles on it with Synthetic oil changes every 3k. Garage kept, pefectly maintained. Brake fluid just changed, New tires and shocks. Will let it go for 22,000 with all the mods, or 19 returned to stock except for body kit and rims.

What do you guys think?

Thanks for the input:)

I think that if you can find someone to buy the car for more than it's worth with all of the mods you put into it go for that. Otherwise, someone that isn't a huge car enthusiast that would probably only want to pay the Blue Book value of the car, would not pay you extra for the mods. So, then you could put the car back to stock and sell it for xxx amount of dollars. Then sell your mods on top of that too make up the difference. Selling it as it is now to someone that can appreciate the mods and pay more for them would probably be the easiest route. Then you would only need to find one buyer for everything.

M33333333333333 My dream car!!!!! good luck buddy...I'd say pick and choose your parts. You definitely will not get as much if you sell the Max with the mods rather than parting it out. So figure out which ones are easier to take off and will get you the best return. I'd say take one day out of your weekend and spend all day taking as much off as you can...after that dont worry bout it. You are buying an M3 man, which means you have MONEY and enough not to worry bout every little part.

i say part out the car, just leave the dash kit in there, because taking it off will mess it up

Will you be willing to sell your Tokico struts?

parting is the way to go if ur looking for the money but since ur buying an m3, i don't think that's a big issue. how much for the y? may be interested. thanks!

Good idea. No, sorry i can't sell the shocks cause they are the only ones i have for the car. The y-pipe i will probably sell for around $195. Thanks for the help guys.

Nice, join the family :)
I would recommend selling all the mods separately, you'll get a little more money that way.

Sad to see a fellow max go but good luck with your M3, if you want to ever mod an M3 check out ActiveAutowerkes in Miami, they build Turbo M3's not E46 yet but they have been around for about 21 years. Here is the link: www.aatuning.com Before you decide to buy anything from them let me know I have an account with them and I can get you a good discount on lots of little toys for BMW's...:D Good Luck.

I work in the car business and the best thing you can do is to sell your car as close to stock as possible. all the mods that you have put on your car do not add any value to it because most cars do nothing but depreciate in value as they get older. if i were you, i would take all the mods and put them up on e-bay and try to sell them. after that, you will have a easier time selling your car.:)

Excellent. Thanks. I actually just checked with my insurance company and it's going to cost me 5,000 a year just for insurance   So i may have to hold off on getting the car until i turn 22. Which is only in 5 months. Which is when i would probably take delivery of the car since their is a 6-8 month waiting list. Thanks for all the input guys.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Selling Maxima with mods or without?

Are you getting 6-spd or SMG?

davis4005 05-28-2002 04:45 PM

I'd take the mods off, most people that are looking at Maxima's don't want a modded car and if they know that it is or was modded it will make the value go down because it was probably raced around. Selling your mods on e-bay will get you much more money.

cmac95gxe 05-28-2002 05:57 PM

22 with an M3? Im jealous.

Cisco 05-28-2002 07:18 PM

You wont regret getting an M3. Despite the high price and high insurance, I love my M3.

maxse01 05-28-2002 08:45 PM

6 Speed. SMG is kinda dumb i think.

Cisco: How much was your M3? What options did you get? How much is your insurance per year?
