AGX People: Why do my AGX's seem "stiffer" on "soft" setting and vice versa.

I installed AGX's in the rear of my 4th gen today to replace my blown GR2s. Out of curiosity I tried the different settings (1 being soft and 8 being soft) and timed how long it took for the shock to rebound from a fully compressed state.

On the "softest" setting which is supposedly 1, it took 7 seconds to rebound. On setting 4 it took 9 seconds, and on setting 8 it took 18 seconds to rebound. I timed this numerous times, each time getting the same result.

Unfortunately I was only able to try it on one strut as I had already installed the other one.

Anyone have any insight on this?

i want to know what the deal is...i have mine set 1 in the front and 2 in the back...and my car rides toooo stiff...are you saying that the longer the rebound the softer the strut?? any1 have a diff setting that works well in a sub-urban area( a lot of road work with lots of holes and bumps)

if it takes longer to rebound, it took longer to compress...meaning its stiffer...hard to push in, slower to come out.....slower to rebound...On the softest setting, 1, easy to push in, easy to come out...hardest setting, 8, hard to push in, takes longer to come out...

Hope this makes some sense...;)

When mine are on full stiff in the back, I can't push the rear of the car down, unless I stand on it, and then it still barely moves at all. I just read that you said off the car, so my statement doesn't really apply.

I can't believe you guys are trying to measure damper performance by pushing on it with your hands...

When you set your strut to 1 you are at the stiffest setting 4 and 8 are soft!:D At least that's what my instructions said.

The other way around. 1 is softest and the higher numbers get progressively stiffer.

Come to think about it, you're right. I'm driving on 8 and 4. My brain is dead! :goofy:
