want straight answer to y pipe question, and question about friend's camry...

hey,
i know it's been discussed and i did search but everytime i read a thread people say different things. ok my question is, i have a 95 gxe and it's CA spec (even though i'm in MA which seems odd?)...will the budget y pipe fit my car? i've read some people say that it only affects 99's but still not postive. does anyone know if it will actually work?? any help will be much appreciated.

and second, i don't know if you guys can answer but i'm sure you'll know what to do more so than i do. my friend has a 94 or 95 (i forget)camry. it's the 4 cylinder and that's all i know about that, but here's the problem. He starts up his car and usually his radio and everything works fine, but occasionaly the clock, radio and other things don't come on. also, if they do come on and he puts the car in reverse they dim or turn off. when he plugs his cell phone charger into the outlet, it turns the other things off too. he said if he hits the dash, sometimes it comes back but not usually. the only way to get things back on is turn car off then back on, and oddly enough popping the hood and closing it. sound like a loose connection? any ideas? i tried looking for maybe a fuse that wasn't in tight but his fuse box requires a screwdriver to get to, so i didn't have the chance. if anyone has any suggestions i'd appreciate it. thanx

i dont know about the ypipe question but i might be able to help your friend. for how long has the car been acting like this? it sounds like the alternator is going. has the car been cranking longer than normal to start the car?

I have called Budget up and Jody who works there, say they are for the fed spec maximas. However, I searched the org for some threads and people have said that the fed spec y-pipe fit on the 95 up to 98. The 99 and up have different y-pipes.

Doesn't sound like an alternator to me, because hitting the dash or opening the hood has nothing to do with that. That's surprising that such a new Camry would have difficulties--my friend has a 95 that's tighter with 135,000 that my max with 62,000. Anyway, check for a fusible link or some dash harness is my guess. Dang those Camrys are bullet-proof and reliable. Toyota rocks, just needs to put some HP into the mix.
