Fuel pressure... new info and more confusion....

I noticed today that my fuel pressure surges seemed to get worse the more I drove the car on the way to work, and that the pressure got lower and lower... So at noon, I have to do some running around, and I needed gas. I filled up, and presto, fuel pressure is suddenly steady! WTF!? My car only took 14 gallons, so it's not like I was super low, and these problems started around 1/2 tank or so. Ive had my fuel pump in for the past 8 months, does it seem possible for something to suddenly come loose, or does it seem more likely that the pump is going out? If the pump is going out, would it even matter how much fuel I have in it? Could anything else cause this? On my way home, I think I noticed a VERY SLIGHT fluctuation a couple times, but nothing compared with before, though fuel pressure does seem a tad bit lower than normal... Now I have a full tank, so I have to wait a bit before pulling the top off so I can look at the pump... HELP!!! :(

Is it possible that something in your gas fume vent control system(evap?), or a faulty gas cap or something similar? Just grabbing at strings here.

I do think it could be a pick-up screen that's too high or something. Like at 1/2 tank only some of the pick-up is hitting liquid.

Keep driving with gas above 3/4... if that keeps your problem away... then you know something is wrong inside the tank.

Perhaps the pickup tube to pump came loose?

I second that.

Or a twisted hose in the tank that got worse over time?

As soon as I get down to 3/4 I'm gonna open up the tank and check it out... I drive 50 miles a day, so shouldn't take too long... ;)

Thanks for the replies.
