KOP HID's

A friend of mine has become a distributor for KOP HID Lighting Technologies. All there products are top of the line and are manufactured from German parts. The are made of the same material as the Phillips HID lighting systems. All products come with a manufactures warranty. Also as a note the higher color temperature bulbs are not the tinted glass like some of the other manufacturers are using. The colors are achieved by using precise gas mixtures. Products available right now

what do you mean by hi/lo beam plug and play? do you mean it uses a diode to keep the hid on when you flick to hi?

2M0A0X2 - If you have a 2k2 or higher, yes all you have to change is the bulbs to get more blue or purple, see link above to pics.

ThurzNite - Actually it uses a relay, and when hi beams are engaged it changes the angle of the bulb to a higher beam pattern.

Price depends on the color kit desired the higher color temp (ie 8000k) are more expensive. They run from $450 to $500 per kit

Juice,

Just to make sure, the bulb itself doesn't move, but it is similar to a dual filament bulb?

yes...because a HID bulb does NOT act like a normal bulb. once it's ignited and lit..it stays lit. unless there's another bulb "hybrid" then the HID bulb/capsule will stay lit regardless of high or low beam.
the way they control the high beam and low beam "generally" is they have a relay to control a shield on a H4 bulb. but it does not act like a regular bulb...so juice is incorrect on his info.

funnylittlman Dec 3, 2002 12:58 PM

Oh ok. I got ya!:D

That's what I was wondering, b/c all the "dual's" that i've seen have had a servo (manually moved) or had another bulb on it (the dual xenon that Bimmers use now). My bad:(

The above description is correct for one type of Hi/Lo kit that is available. It uses a relay to allow the bulb to stay on when the Hi beams are engaged. These kits are currently in stock.

The second type of Hi/Lo kit which I attempted to describe works with a solenoid that is able to slide the bulb itself back and forth, hence changing the angle in which the light is output. I apologize for my incorrect information in my above post. However thes kits will not be ready for a short while.

Again my apologies.

Juice,

I have heard nothing bud bad things about the Solenoid ones. They crap out fast.

What's your opinion?

Thats exactly why we dont sell the current available ones yet because there are still bugs in the systems. We are looking into other developers in Germany and currently testing those systems. I really can't say when they will be ready because it depends on how long it takes find and correctly functioning product.
