R.I.P. 99 I30 - A moment of silence. . .

DAYUM!!!

For about 2 months the check engine light looked like it was complaining bout a rear oxygen sensor and it looks like I got more than just a rear oxygen sensor to fix now! My I30 got rear ended today. A car behind me slammed into my car hard enough that hit the car in front of me. The back all the way to the rear seats is completly crushed, the frame bent and the front bumper and grill is a total loss. The car is pretty much totaled, but my insurance company hasn't made it official yet.

ZHIET!

The I30 is one of the smoothest, strongest rides I bought. I loved the row RPM torque and gas mileage. 190hp at 25mpg along with the smooth ride makes it a great daily driver and I hoped to run it into the ground!

It was fun while I had it. Seriously one of the best. It also has a great support base on the Internet like you guys. I really will miss leaving you all. My only Maxima based car left is the super rare Infiniti M30 that my folks drive.

R.I.P.

Jaguar X-type, here I come!

I30tMikeD 11-07-2003 12:23 AM

Sorry to hear that. Sounds like bigger and better things are to come though.

Jaybe 11-07-2003 03:16 PM

Asian_N02 11-07-2003 03:30 PM

Jaybe 11-07-2003 06:17 PM

nycspudz03 11-07-2003 06:54 PM

Noeladams 11-07-2003 07:11 PM

Let us know what your insurance company is going to do too.

Whenever there's a dead body lying on the ground, they'll always be vultures circling 'round.

I waiting for the word that the car is totaled. I'm hoping for it. I have been in two accidents before and each time the car was fixed it was never quite as it was brand new. I always found something out of alignment or other nagging problems which is unacceptable for a luxury car. If I pay that much, I'm making sure that I am getting THAT much.

If the car is totaled I've read that I have to option to get the car's retail worth plus keep the car minus some fees. I plan to do so and sell the scraps or sell the whole totaled car as is on a first pay, first serve basis. I will update this thread and post on the for sale section if and when this happens.

As if things weren't bad enough, I went back to get my valuables from my car and my new 2004 registration sticker for my I30 which I needed to put on it this weekend was stolen from that car. Someone from the towing company jacked it. Those Phucks. Avoid and blacklist Mr. C's Towing in Los Alamitos, CA.

Fortunately, my luck is changing... the X-types are on sale for $23K base price! It's making me almost forget about my second choice, the Audi A4. The Jaguar's sale price below the base price for the Audi.

I30 interior alone is worth a good chunk of money to maxima owners.

Noeladams 11-08-2003 07:55 PM

Good luck with the insurance company man and I hope that if your car cant be fixed you get one of those new infiniti's. We passed a few on the interstate today and were drooling haha!!! No matter what color the 3 that we saw were they just looked good!

95maxrider 11-10-2003 05:06 PM

infinitiman96 11-17-2003 05:02 PM

did you find out if the insurance company will let you keep the car to part out?

MaDdFLaSheR 11-23-2003 07:32 PM

very sorry to hear bout ur car..

i dont think you should go for an xtype dude.. my aunt has one and she hates it with passion. everything breaks and maintenance is stupid expensive.

razel 11-23-2003 08:54 PM

The car is gone. Turned the keys in. I didn't even bother trying to keep the car since I want to enjoy the holidays and they're giving me more than I expected. I'm a happy camper. Time to move on.

I've heard a lot of little things breaking with the X-type just as Madflasher mentioned, but I'm still willing to test drive one for a day. My previous car, the Infiniti M30 had little plastic things break and minor problems here and there, but that car was in two minor fender benders and was just over 10 years old.

There is some good news. I may NOT leave you Maxima guys just yet! I'm seriously considering a newer model 2000-2001 Infiniti I30. After not driving the I30 for awhile and trying different cars, the 2000-2001 I30's engine, ride, improved interior, and affordability are drawing me back.

Are there any problems with the 2000-2001 generation that I should specifically look out for when shopping?

Help keep me on the Maxima team guys...

In the Nissan family I have owned a 96 G20, a 98 Altima and now a 00 I30 and I can honestly say that the I30 is one of the best cars I have EVER owned or driven. But, in your original thread you mentioned the check engine light being on because of a bad o2 sensor. I am currently having the same problem....and maintenace is EXPENSIVE!! So, just something to consider...but overall I wouldn't trade my 2000 for an X-type (a Q45 is a different story though!!!!!) lol

attomica 11-26-2003 11:42 AM

I'm sorry to hear about the I30, but you could do a lot better than an X-Type. They're just Ford Mondeos with nicer appointments. Sure, the AWD is nice, but I think another I30 would be a better choice. There's plenty of 'em out there and at quite a bit less than a fancy Ford.

razel 12-09-2003 10:23 AM

I'm BAACK! (almost)

Goodbye! 99 I30. . . Hello! 01 I30

What a difference between both generations! The 1st generation I30 was so obviously a dressed up Maxima, but the 2nd generation I30 is more like a true luxury car. The 2nd gen has that more luxurious feel, fit and finish of all the newer Infiniti cars. I once had a luxurious 02 I35 as a loaner car and the 2nd gen I30 from the insider is nearly identical! It just has less wood, no trip computer, and no RDS on the radio, but it has everything else... memory seats, rear sunshade, one-touch moonroof, etc.

I'm looking forward to maximizing my new car as soon as I get my hands on it in a few days. Anyone know how much it 'really' costs to put the navigation system that is available as an option on the car?
