What's the horsepower ratings on a 2K-2K1 I30?
 

I was talking to a guy I know that works at an infinity dealer. He told me that the horsepower rating on the 2K/2K1 I30 is 227. I know that the maxima is 222 that year. Why would the two be differant? Or is this even true?

This is true as far as I know. I believe the difference is attributed to variences in the ECU.

the difference is acctually due to an upgraded exhaust system in the i30.

The 2001 Maxima SE also had 227, where the LE and GLE had 222. The difference was in the exhaust system.

I had a 2001 Max GLE with 222, and it was all the HP I needed...until I got 255 in my 2002 I35 :bowdown1:

Really!? I didn't know that about the SE. Well that' s a bit of useful information.

well...at 2k1, SE, GXE and GLE all had 222 and only 20th SE had 227.

...because of the use of Infiniti i30's variable mufler!

all 5th gens use a variable flow muffler.....

well then the variability is different :)
i30 does not use the same mufler as maxima, that's where it gets its additional 5 hp. When that mufler is installed on maxima (aka AE) it produces the same hp rating as i30. All this according to nissan.
