I really like it but there are some drawbacks. Cd changer being gone is the biggest. Haven't got the steering wheel controls hooked up yet but that's next. I did figure out how to make the trip computer work again.
This unit only gives six radio presets which sucks. No RDS.
DVD movies look and sound great (even though I will never use it for that)
The stock Bose speakers and amp sound WAY better with this unit and there is no need for that PAC adapter.
Navigation is the real reason I got this and it really works great. Very quick to reroute, voice guidance etc.
Tell me what you think.

Nice. Only thing that sucks about that Headunit is if you don't have dark enough tint, it stays up like that all the time and if I recall correctly it's not a faceplate nor does it flip over, which would get your sh*t broken into very quickly. Other than that I feel it's the hottest Headunit's out right now.
7" Touch Screen, DVD/MP3, embedded GPS with voice, etc. etc. etc. Amazing

It's the Eclipse AVN2454. The dash kit was the hardest part. I originally took it to sound advice and had then make a kit but it was the most HORRIBLE job i had even seen. So after a day I took it out and made my own. I used plaster paris to make a cast mold of the bose HU and then mixed up some bondo and poured it in. Cut out the hole and about 2 days of sanding later, primered and painted it and this is what it came out like. Im not completely happy (I'm a perfectionist and very picky) but it doesn't look bad to me (seeing as I have never done anything like this before). Worlds better than what sound advice charged me $100 for.

I have silver reflective tint but you can still see in. It does not hide in anyway so that is a drawback. One of the reasons that I chose this one over the kenwood (which does not hide away either) is that it looks very stock. (to me anyway) so hopefully no one will want to steal it.

How did you get the paint to match?

You took the question right out of my mind. That has got to be the best custom trim dash I have seen ever.

The final color is the only thing that I didnt do. After I sanded and primered it, I called this guy that does leather and interior restoration and he mixed up the paint and airbrushed it. I would have wasted gallons of paint trying to match that color

From the Eclipse site:
NoteVD and video facilities are disabled when the vehicle is in motion.
Inserting a DVD will only allow the audio to be heard.
... any way this can be disabled? I'm considering getting this for my A32... I've been looking for a solid Double DIN Navi, this looks really nice... but on a long trip, my passenger should be able to watch a movie

Most units on the market that play DVDs do this. Usually requires grounding the wire that's supposed to be hooked up to the parking brake. I would assume the eclipse is no different...unless of course...they were tricky and made it so that if the GPS unit detected motion that it wouldn't play...

Hey everybody.
Ok, The Nav is fully operational when driving. Including DVD movie playback. There are no restrictions if you ground the wires. (Which is easier than looking for parking brake etc)
Meta, the install is very simple and nothing extra is needed. It's simply a swap. Same screws in the same place as the Bose using the same mounting bracket. No modifications needed to mount the HU.
As for the kit, you all will have to make me an offer, I will say this, I did not enjoy one minute of the two days it took to make this thing. It cost me $70 to have it painted and blended to my dash. I will consider making more if ya'll are really interested.
Can someone tell me what this fiberglass kit is all about?
Did I miss anything?

i would definately purchase one of those kits from you, painted. please let me know about the pricing. i want something similar, but have no need for the navigation. im assuming that another double din radio would look the same with that kit, correct? 1800 is out of my price range for a headunit.
