Someone claims this is true, I think it's BS (99 i30 LIMITED GPS myth)
 

Hey guy's, someone is claming to sell a NAV screen from a 1999 i30. They are claiming that it only came on the LIMITED edition. I used to own a 99 LIMITED, and never heard from anyone that NAV was even an option. Has anyone heard otherwise?

I surfed eBay some odd days ago and ii saw some GPS units for sale that came in 99 I30 Limitied.. i dont know how much were produced, but from what i heard, it was a prototype. I havent seen one in action, but i noticed that climated controls are on the GPS unit. 3 harnesses are inputted in it. Anyone have information of how to do conversion or how to obtain these harnesses?

There were some A32s with Nav. Most of us here didn't believe it either, until one member posted pics of his car. Lo and behold, he did have factory nav.

thanks guy's. Any idea if such a unit can be used on a 2000 i30? Because i'm thinking of buying it.

yeah i posted pics of that nav. my mpoms 99 i30 has the nav system but her car is not limited. just a basic i30 witout a spoiler and 15 inch rims on it. the system is cool but i cant find a freaking disc for it for some reason. the nav system has the climate control built into it and the Bose cd player is underneath the screen. pretty cool thing.

hmm i wonder if its plug and play for the climate control..? also do we have anyone on teh forum that works at infiniti dealer ship so we can get the trim around it..

the stupid trim in wood cost me $115 at infiniti dealership. the 2000 navigation system is in a complete different place. it is not in the center like the 99 one. it is in the top of the dash.

how bout a 98 and does anyone know how much these cost from ebay?

WTF.... I never would have thought it to be true. I even have a 99 model line up booklet from an old auto show with all options for every model, and it makes no mention of navigation for the I30.

Hey guy's. called my friend that works in a local Infiniti dealer. He asked other dealers they claim no such thing. They said probably some add on option. Nobody knows about this nor have heard of this. But the pictures above some seem to be original installation. Does not look like after market job. Weired!!!!!!

it was a prototype model. these are the same navigations that were used in the 2k2-2k3 maximas

so can the part aroudn the screen be purchased from somewhere..?

hey im sorry i mean i really dont want to ask but do u have nay pics with the navi active also can u .. please please please please.. take off the dash and show us what is going on behind the scenes... i mean i really wanan see whats back there so i can see what kind of adaptations i need.. can u get pics of the plugs and wires.. man this would be flippin great and also the part number on the trim.. when u can if possible please let me kno...

when i get the time i will do it but my navi screen does not work cause i dont have the cd and i dont know where to get one.

If you look at the stickers on those units, they say 1998 or 1999 production dates which also proves that they existed

I have a 99 ESM on CD.

The entire Navigation system description is there, with function tests and wiring digrams.

It is listed under the HA section, which is Heat/AC. No part numbers for any of the system's components however. Kinda cool.

Off topic, kind of, but anyone ever seen the oem phone option that goes in the lower pocket, I have seen it but never in a 96-99 I30 Pics in someones car would be cool

naaa.. its a 120$ from everything nissan.. but i was thinking about taking the trim i have.. and expanding the double din unit ot accomidate the nav/temp.. cause i dont liek how the OEM navi trim puts the navi up that high.. and also since ill be using a single din qx4 radio it looks very OEM in the single din tray.. ill be replacing the original temp conrols etc in taht area and putting my parrot blue tooth phoen contoler which i will make flush into that area.. and whatever other things i have to put there..also i was thinkign about putting the heated seat buttons there... i hate em near the cup holders.. ... soemthing of that sort but this wont be done till liek 3-4 months.. got some suspension probs.. aand stuff before hand..


i looked at the ac/amp wires .. there pretty much identical only the amp with navi uses 3 additional to display info on teh screen.. besides that hte blower motors. temp sensors.. etc are existant on both.. jsut tapping inot the lines takes time and patience.. which i have patience... no time...

A/C auto amp from a 2001 QX4... only prob is that i can get hte amp for like 1_ _$... but now the harness.. thats the prob.. where the hell do i get harnes.s. and trust me.. its not easy to fid qx4 with navi in junk yards...

so what do i do about harnesses.. do u gusy have liek general harnesses that u use.. if i give u a type of harness or somethign can u get htat. .i dotn knwo how that works...

P.S. once i gethtis working i was really jsut thinking about selling it.. with the bluetooth phoen connection and alll.. so i wanan finish this..

well i have the diagrams.. its jsut the harness plugs..w hen plugs burn or go bad on cars what do u guys do..? i mean replace jsut hte end of the adapter rite..? so can u get those.. liek specif plugs if i send u.. or show u their pics form wiring diagram..?
