Why are there differences in recommeded PSI's?

If the Max and the I are so similar, then why are the recommended tire pressures for the Max, 32/front and 29/rear, and 29 front & rear for the I?

Which trims are you comparing? At least with the 95-97 SE and the t trims have p215/60 tires as opposed to p205/65 for the GLE and GXE Maximas, and BASE and LEATHER I30s. Thus the difference in psi recommendations.

From what I've read in the manuals, there are no general inflation differences among the three Max models. Also, aren't P205/65's virtually equal to 215/60's in tire diameter, and only a fraction narrower?

What about differences in trunk sizes?

hmm good question.. im running 32lb and its soft i like it.. i mean i use to run 42... man i can corner SOOOMUCH better with 42 pounds.. and the car wouldnt move if i pushed it from sid eof trunk.. with 32 it can woble a bit.... i have 215/55 17 tire.... so i dotn know.. im thinking abou tmoving up to .. 36lb for a bit more stirdy ride..

PS off topic.. i tried that flip over your airbox mod.... damm that things screams... hehehe.. theni put it back after about 2 hr... cause it was sorta annoying...

The recommended inflation on a 96-97 with p205/65r15 itires is 29 front/ 29 rear. With p215/60r15 tires it is 33 front/ 32 rear... I am sure it is the same for the 95-(97??) Maximas when comparing p205 equipped GLEs and GXEs vs the p215 equipped SEs.

The 98-99 I30 and the (97???)-99 Maximas with the T/SE packages got 16s, so I dont know what the inflation was on those.

p215s are 10mm wider than 205s and have 4.25mm less in side wall.

As far as I can tell the I30 and the Max have the exact same trunk size... especially considering that they use the same lining and floor mat.

Why are you running 215/55 on a 17? That is NOT the correct size to keep the over all tire and wheel diameter the same. The correct size for a 17 is 235/45. Having the size of tire that you have on right now is probably throwing off your speedometer and odometer... not to mention it is probably giving you some fuccin' mega wheel gap.

The 215/60's are also 8.5mm less in outside tire diameter than the 205/15's. In other words, not a whole lot of difference here to warrant a 4psi increase up front and a 3psi in back, IMHO. It makes no sense whatsoever.

I'm assuming what applies for the Max also applies for the I, right?

Did you drop it? If so, I was unaware... The only reason I say wheel gap is because here is what it looks like when you put too small of a tire on your rim...

This is off of Irishmax99's car... and yes he's Irish. These are 18s with what looks like p205 or p215s... way too small for that size of rim. This is with no drop and the car is not jacked up either. These actually came as a package from an online wheel shop. $1300 shipped...
