you can cut the pedal or get a manual car brake pedal. Talk to I30ds

As the old saying goes...Anything's possible with enough time and money.

There are no OEM Manual transmission equipped A33 I30/I35s. To our knowledge, no one has swapped one...yet.

I think the parking brake would be the least of your worries in that endeavor. A simple solution would be to switch over to a Maxima center console and convert to a handbrake.

Interesting thing though - A33 Cefiros/Maximas overseas that have our body style often had a manual transmission option.

You mean in english for the english speakers? ..j/k

Anyway, I've never looked at the two very closely, so I'm not sure. Best bet would be to look at Maximas on cardomain for some interior pics and then compare them to what you see in your car.

[QUOTE=MetaOrbit] switch over to a Maxima center console and convert to a handbrake.

QUOTE]
ummm, are you kidding me? I want to do that without the swap!! So the 5.5 gen Maximas have a hand e-brake?? That was the thing that I HATED about the i35, I honestly think if I had noticed that at the dealer it would have stayed at the dealer, I'm a crazy snow drifting maniac

Yeah, the maximas have handbrakes. We got shafted on that front yet again.

I thought about converting when I first got the car, but then I got over it. I kinda like my center console as well.

I'm working on a way to flip a small lever and temporarily bypass the detent, that way it would be even better than a hand E-brake, I'll keep you updated.

Ha, I've always thought about doing that. I'd be interested in hearing what you come up with.

Anyone ever think about fitting a G35s e-brake, or one from a lot of the new nissans? They are the push on push off type of floor brake. That would probably work really well.

I always thought that the newer I35 would have them too. Is this not the case?

It just really buggs me that I not only have to push a pedal, but to release it I have to use my left hand to disengage the brake... I've actually kinda gotten used to it, but it's still a PITA.

? On the I35 all you have to do is push it on and off, but it's still a floor brake.

That IS the case, I thought it would be cool, but if you let the pedal come up to far it will lock down the next time you push it in, so if your trying to slide sideways back and forth a few times it's next to impossible to not accidentaly let it come up to far, next thing you know your facing the curb. I'll keep you guys updated.

Yeah I was attempting to do the manual conversion since my friend had wrecked his 02 maxima 6spd. After looking into all of the parts involved (no hand brake), center dash, odometer change and alot of other things here and there, it was going to be to costly. You need to practically have a donor car with all of the parts available.

Now what I wish we could do is swap in a manumatic transmission from the 04 maximas or even better, a CVT manumatic from a Murano. That would be sweet. Since the 04 maximas have 5spd auto, we could use the extra gearing and + - manumatic shifting.

I didnt think there were any gears in a CVT (thats the whole reason it's continuously variable). So how would manumatic control work with that?

There aren't any gears your def. right, but if it exists maybe it works like some sort of electronic control that changes the way in which it works, just like when you put different weights and springs in a salisbury/comet clutch on a snowmobile, but usually only modded motors need that so If they have a manumatic CVT clarification from someone 'in the know' would be cool.

From my understanding all the manumatic on the CVT does is make it "feel" like you're shifting gears.

As it's been stated here, there are no "gears" to shift. I think it just varies the RPMs to give you the "feel" of shifting.

But with the 5sp auto trans yu need an ecu that can actually recognise that and yu prolly will benefit from it but i wont no fair would it be possible to swap an 02-03 ecu to a 00-01

There is no way the ECU's will swap between the VQ30 and VQ35.

but either way 00-01 and 02-03 have the same 4sp tranny with lockup.
