'02 I35 wrecked!!!! :(

I've had my I35 for like 8 weeks and I wrecked it today.

Accident was my fault, I was pulling out of a parking lot trying to get into the far side of a 4 lane street, and got hit by a car traveling in the center lane which was making a left hand turn.

No one was hurt, but there was decent damage to his Z71 Truck, and complete destruction to my I35's Quarter Panel, headlight, hood and front bumper. I also have a nasty scuff mark down the entire driver's side. I'd say atleast 3-4k in dmagae, but probably not a total which I'm thankful for. The Airbags didn't deploy either, which could have been even worse.

I'm just thankful no one was hurt and the damage is as minimal as it is. I can't meet with an adjuster until Monday, so that kind of sucks too. Car is still driveable, but looks like !

I haven't been in an accidnet in like 7 years and now 2 in the past 3 months!

At least no one was hurt, a car can always be repaired or replaced. Good luck....

I had a similar accident in fall of 04 except replace z71 with deer and 4 lane with rural highway. Me and my car got past it. At least with mine the paint job was a upgrade!!! Good luck with the repairs.

That sucks man. I hope the other driver isn't planning to sue or anything like that. Glad you're ok though!

What I'm concerned with is the huge gash down the entire driver side of my door. The whole side is going to have to be repainted. The '02 was garage kept, and the paint was immaculate before the accident, I just hope the shop blends it well.

I'll always know it was wrecked, but with a decent paintjob I don't think anyone elese will....

Thanks for all the condolences, I'm in a little better mood today; atleast she's still driveable...

find a shop tha uses Dupont Spectravision. the shop i go to i Tampa uses this, it's uses a digital camera that integrates with some computer software to exactly match your paint.

Just be glad your not hurt... It could have been alot worse. I just got in an accident a few months ago in which my brother totalled his car and when the passenger air bag blew, it broke my fore arm in several places... It looked like some **** you see on maximum exposure. It was all twisted up and blue and I could not even drive for a couple of weeks because of the stick shift.

Did you take pics of the damage? It would be interesting to see it.

That sucks about your car. But good you are okay. A reminder that crossing lanes like that is a bad idea. We learn. Good luck with getting the car fixed!

Just got the estimate today..........................

$6500

Damn! The headlamps alone are $1100/piece. I knew this was a luxury car, BUT HOLY CRAP!

I'd like to get come cefero headlights, but I'm worried the insurance co might consider that "aftermarket" and not shell out for any unseen damage. Any ideas on this?

That's what I would think, but no. See-if there is more damage done under the bumper that is unseen, the insurance company would be responsible for that. What happens is they send an adjuster to see the damage and make a decision to cut another check. If they see the car has been replaced with parts less than what the original adjustment was for-they will not make up the difference.

I want to add the Cefiro headlights and do the HID foglamp mod, and maybe have some money left over to get a sound system, so I'm wondering if I take the check and there is more damage under the fender, (a couple of the welds in the engine bay have been busted, the hood is dented pretty badly, the Quarter Panel is going to have to be redone, and new door skins on the driver's side door, along with a new rear quarter panel) I get stuck with the difference....

Some insurance companies will cover up to a certian amount for aftermarket parts. I would call your agent and see what he says.

Hey sam

I just got word from the bodyshop that there is nothing else wrong with the car. I may get some smoked Cefiros, still debating....

Here are the pics of the damage:

$6.5K for that? ridiculous! Add a couple more g's and you can get an i30...

The place is definetly a rip-off. That damage should be $4K at most.

That was the insurance quote, not a body shop (as I understand it).
