belt change?

VQ30 does not use a timing belt, but the chain as you stated.
It is really something that should 'never' need servicing. If you are getting a lot of chain slap you may need to change out the tensioner (but I doubt it). My old SAAB had an issue with the material of some of the gears and they would wear out faster than they should... But I have never heard of an issue like that on the VQ.
In short you are probably just fine. Do you ask because you think there is a problem or just curious?

Many times it will rattle a little bit upon start up until oil get up into the chain. Kinda common as VQ's get higher miles. Very seldom does is ther ever a need to service the chain or the tensioner
