n3985 now has CCFL angel eyes!

Ever since I did my retrofit using eBay headlights which came with crappy LED angel eyes, I've wanted CCFL. Now that I am out of school, I finally did it! Also, painted the inner trim to gunmetal to match my new wheels :D

Here is a teaser pic

Notice the brightness difference, even in daytime, and the inside ring not installed yet.

If you have the eBay headlights, tell the guy you need the same rings as me. (silver Infiniti I35)

Looks good, but more pics please :) especially made during the night :)

MetaOrbit 09-25-2007 05:53 PM

Congrats on finding the CCFLs, I know you've been wanting them for awhile now!

n3985 09-25-2007 08:04 PM

Ya, it's been a rough ride too. Originally though the eBay rings were 3", so I custom ordered 76mm CCFL rings ($120). Those came and I realized I measured the inner diameter, so I needed 10.5cm rings, another $30 to swap. Those came and using them on the projectors, then realized 10.5cm won't fit the highbeam side, so now another $30 to swap those for 9.5cm. Once those I get in, I can finally finish. Add the $10 shipping each time, I spent way too much on some stupid rings -_-

LOL, that's dedication man. But I've been there before...there comes a point where you're going to make it work no matter what the cost, especially after you have so much invested.

BLACKonBLACK98 09-30-2007 08:01 PM

looks awesome bro. all that work payed off.

i30ds 10-01-2007 11:31 PM

n3985 10-09-2007 04:33 PM

Please refer to stickies and the search function, not trying to be an *** but this type of info is definitely out there. (I know because metaorbit and I typed it many times)

JMWarren 10-09-2007 05:24 PM

Very nice work...I'd like to do it but I'm sure that my need to make everything perfect would bite me in the ***.

man my retro was hell and still is. I think water has gotten into my custom harness and it flickers or cut off when i hit bumps in the road.

I30t KID 11-04-2007 02:13 AM

That looks great, man! I can't believe how much money you've put into your car. I'm guessing you just graduated? How's the job search doing?

I have put nothing into my car, except regular scheduled maintenance and service (which has so far totalled $7,000 for the year, I've replaced nearly everything).

n3985 11-04-2007 08:06 AM

Yes I graduated in the summer, now I work for Citigroup in NYC. :D

dineth00i30 01-03-2008 08:01 PM

hey do you know if they make these rings big enough to fit the stock headlight housings? and do you think a normal shop that install car audio can fix them up for me if i get them?

n3985 01-03-2008 08:09 PM

No and no

essential1 01-24-2008 07:14 PM

With the ebay lights, do the angel eyes themselves replace the parking lights? Or do they come with a seperate switch for the angel eyes.

n3985 01-24-2008 07:16 PM

They replace the city light in the headlight.

essential1 01-24-2008 07:22 PM

Thanks

AznTran517 11-18-2008 12:26 AM

Hey what size are the rings again? the site goes by mm tho. do i have to order custom ones?
projectors= 10.5cm?
highbeams=9.5cm?

n3985 11-18-2008 06:47 AM

Use 95mm for all four.

Torgus 01-13-2009 11:53 AM

damn that looks hot. bump for a bad *** thread. great job!

burgy 01-13-2009 06:40 PM

Great work and if it helps,...it was well worth the hassle and money!!

Torgus 01-14-2009 08:29 AM

can we get a pic with the headlights on? how is the light output with the am headlights? did you have to adjust them much?

n3985 01-14-2009 08:33 AM

The output was worse than my Maglite, but didn't matter since I swapped projectors.
