P01800 code ----Testing the SOLENOID Valve Circuit?

Hey Buds...I just got a 2003 infiniti I-35.

Sorry if this sounds like a repost (i found this forum "within the Maximan forum" and thought maybe I-35 members would know the answer).

ANYWAY, "is there anyway to Test to see if my SOLENOID Valve Circuit is MY issue?"

When sitting Idle, the car misses (It almost feels like a spark plug is going bad).

I HAD a test done at ADVANCED auto and it came back with the P01800 code error. The Check Engine Light goes on...and from what i've read, the SOLENOID Valve Circuit is the issue. HOWEVER, i am NOT sure 100% whether its the SOLENOID or perhaps one of the Coils from a spark plug.

  • Is there anyway to test the Solenoid Value Circuit?
  • ...or perhaps a Test to Find out if one of the coils is going bad?

(Normally, i would just purchase the Solenoid but if that is not the issue, then i'm struck with it)

Thanks very much!

Thanks Man,

Yeah...i've gotten the reading from my mechanic and the auto parts store.

Here's the Part on Ebay

Can't seem to find it at a Junkyard, so i guess i'll just have to break down and buy it OEM from a dealer.

What do you think...have you changed this sensor before?

It was a looong night. Hahaha, I told you how to check your IVT solenoids. Still fun to do, but not what you need!

The VIAS solenoid is easy. It's a single 6mm bult on top of the intake, with 2 vaccuum hoses, and a harness.

Make sure before you buy it, one of the hoses isnt all destroyed. They fail, and might be your problem rather than the unit.

10-4
I will check the hoses first before i order.

A little bit of a pain, because you have to remove the manifold head cover, but, that looks easy enough.

Thanks

If you'd been thrugh what I have in the last week, yeah getting the engine cover off is easy.

It's ugly under there :)

Someday is here

Yep....changed the hoses. Blew out some dust.

But the car still misses (not too bad) and only WHEN idle (like i'm sitting at a traffic light).

Hmmm...

Probably best to just replace it.

NOOOO....LOL!

i JUST Fixed the Dam Thang ! (hahahaa!)
(Dayum...i'm so proud of myself)

I'm not exactly Mr.Goodwrench, but i watched some videos on this issue and SOME IDIOT (probably previous mechanic) WRONGLY connected the hoses between the VIAS and the Vacuum Reservoir. I studied the Video for about 15 mins, and DISCOVERED where the error was. I made the correction and NOW...the car no longer knocks.

hAHAAA!

(gOTDAYUm....maybe i should by a lotto ticket this week!)

Anyway..thanks for your input Acura...!

(chit...i think i just saved myself about $100....i think i'll celebrate with a Sub Sand-which from my favorite subshop)
