Description:
1992 Nissan Maxima GXE
Car runs and drives but NEEDS TLC.
Known issues - overheats, has possible direct short to the battery, but not sure what from? CV Joints driver side need replacing. Check engine light is on, but not sure of the code. Oh and the alarm keeps resetting itself so as i've had troubles starting the car, but if you play with the key in the door it will eventually shut off
We have replaced the temperature coolant sensor (to the brain and to the guage) but all this did was make the check engine light come on, and the guage still is not reading correctly. When you first start the car it goes up 1/2 way - WHICH makes me wonder if the car is really overheating when it reads hot????
the radiator fans do not work (without modification). we currently have a jumper wire in relay #1 so the fans are on when you turn on the key, and they shut off when you turn the car off. We tried replacing relay #1 & #3 but still did not correct the problem.
Radio does not work (possible fuse?) and the switch to the temperature control unit on the dash is broke.
Without digging more into the car, i really couldn't tell you (nor can she) what else is wrong with it. Car has 164K miles.
Here's a little background: She bought the car a couple weeks ago for her daughter thinking it would be a good car for her to get back and forth to school in. the guy she bought it from got it from an auction a month prior. He did not disclose anything to her about the car so she is pretty much screwed as she does not have the means to put money into the car or have someone fix it.
Car has a salvaged title. She was told the car had a clean title when she bought it, but her insurance agent told her it was salvaged. you can tell it may have been in an accident, but not sure where as panels have been replaced. Car needs a paint job.
She paid $1200 for the car and is looking for BEST OFFER.
I will post pictures possibly tomorrow, but if you are looking for a project car, this could be it!
