2002 Acura RSX Type S

Nighthawk Black Pearl, 113k miles on the car--27k miles on the block.

Pictures by Nissan 6.

No ETA or numbers yet...my motor will finally be finished this week (getting my head back tomorrow! Had four leaking exhaust valves, two of which on same cylinder), then getting dyno tuned ASAP. Expected numbers (I'm first on ClubRSX to have this setup): 320whp, 240ft-lbs torque (DynoJet), mid-high 12 ETA with driver mod.

Engine modifications
K24A1 (2004 CR-V) engine block, crank pulley, K20Z1 (2006 RSX) oil pump
K24A2 (2007 TSX) intake camshaft
No power steering *

Awesome, and great choice in tires. although you might want to go down a bit on width, 255/40 is a bit much for an 8J wheel.

For example, check out how much of the tire is actually contacting the ground in that picture. You've only got 70% of the tire's width in contact with the ground because it's bubbling over since you're cramming it onto an 8J wheel. If you had this on a 9J then 90% of the tread would be contacting the ground under normal load. If you had a 235/45 you would probably be putting more rubber on the ground, and the car would feel more responsive.

Also, are you using the K24 block or the block/crank/rods/pistons etc (what's the current displacement)? I'm not familiar with the bore or stroke of any K series.

Sick car. I always like seeing them on the road. Great engine for boost or NA, gotta love that.

Any plans for some dyno time, or even track times?

Aren't those injectors just a hair or 2 on the large side?

That is the best looking set up i've ever seen. Please post pics of the engine bay when it's all done with, because that's and amazing build.

I want a DC5, but they are hard to find in my price range. Keep up the good work man.

True, but you also have to factor in the tire pressure. When going to the track it'll be dropped down phenomenally which will let just about the entire surface be in contact with the ground. Nobody really goes with 9" wide on these cars due to rubbing issues/sticking out/looking funny/etc. The 255s will hopefully give me traction in through entire third gear (1st and 2nd gear, in my dreams) when at proper pressure. Sucks to have such power but front wheel drive not being able to handle it.

I'm using the entire K24 block, previously it was 2.0 L. K24 crank, rods, pistons, etc. With the exception of a K20 oil pump because the K24 one isn't as good. All K20s are 89mm x 89mm (bore/stroke), the K24s are all 87mm x 99mm. My rev limiter has to drop from 8800rpm to 7500rpm When it comes to Honda engine codes, first letter is the series, next two numbers is the displacement in L, then the revision (I guess you can say).

Actually no, those injectors were reaching near 70% duty (80%+ is considered to be near maxed out/upgrade required) under full throttle on my last setup (pre K24). The reason I got the 750cc is because I have plans for nitrous in the future, I also have new intake cam which is far more aggressive.

I'm still waiting to get my head back from the shop either tonight or tomorrow. Once I get it back I'll have my motor done within an hour or two after that and put in back in the car ASAP. I'm going to get it tuned ASAP also when it's done...so within the next two weeks. As far as the track, I'm not sure when the tracks around here (Chicagoland) close for the season

Thanks a lot man, it is nice to hear these kinds of things. I have some pics of the engine bay somewhere at my home computer...I'll try to get them up. They are not with the current setup though (but did include the supercharger).

Thanks, when these pictures were taken I actually didn't have my Tien coilovers installed on the rear. I installed the front the day before I believe but had to wait until the upcoming weekend to install the rear ones. Car was also dirty when photoshoot was taken. Whenever the car is done !PrjctMax! is going to detail it for me

Yeah, I haven't heard of anyone putting a 9J on any teg, kudos for stuffing so much rubber in there. If you don't think a 235/45 will give you enough straight line grip then I understand (although that is debatable)... but it would handle considerably more crisply, and drastically dropping pressure will give you a lot of mush in the corners (the sidewall will roll over more than a 235/45 as well) making the difference even more noticeable. You got any videos of the car in action?

Gotcha. Not fun dropping to undersquare, is it? At least you have toark now.

Think of it as an effective drop in gearing.

Well I certainly knew that part.

You've done up the RSX pretty much the way I'd have liked to do it, performance first (including handling), very subtle visual mods and a really clean look--honestly that's probably the most badass RSX I've seen to date. When you go HIDs, PLEASE be a baller and do a retrofit.

I don't do any autocrossing and don't really plan on it so I'm not THAT concerned about my handling, but still want it to be pretty decent. My main goal here is to have an extremely fun daily driver that'll surprise (and kill) most cars out there on the road. The Azenis actually have a really stiff sidewall but have fantastic grip to the road. I'm not much of an entusiast for going through turns fast because in my opinion it's too much to lose if you lose control (that is if you do it on the open roads not a road course, which I have a past bad experience in this subject). I like to take it easy now days and let my buddy in his Maxima fly through the turns ahead of me. I guess that is why you can say I decided to go with the widest ones that fit the rim in a decent manner.

However, I'd love to hit up a real road course someday instead of dodging cones in a parking lot--but that's just my preference.

No videos though...and frustrated because didn't get my head back from the shop tonight!!

That is my ideal intention, no plans yet though

This picture was taken a few days before I pulled the motor (notice no intake)...but it'll look pretty much the same when done (except a LOT cleaner):

Crappy interior shot of the guages:

Is it some kind of inside joke with the Honda badge? I see a lot of people rebadge their Acura to Honda but I never quite get it fully.
Anyways... that's quite a beast you got there!

It's still a honda. Get it through your head. It's made by honda, it's a honda at heart. Yes here they badge it as acura, however in it's "home country" it is not an acura, and there is no acura. Therefor people are going for the JDM look, just like people get their maxima cefiro stuff. Same idea, different parts.

Both of them are pretty ghey practices IMO. If you want to **** with the badges, just take them off.

EVERY part on the car says honda but my steering wheel. i figure if my windows and motor and headlights housing and everything else say honda on them why shouldn't the car

..that is no "salad bar" wing it comes factory as an option. unlike MOST spoilers, it is actually useful because it follows the car's body line
