R.I.P. - 98 GLE vs. Ike
finally got some pics of the aftermath:
i have decided to grab a new a32 for my project car rather than spending the time/money restoring this one. loooking for a 99 i30 and i will be doing a much simpler build this time around in hopes of actually finishing it.

good news is barely anything was installed because of all the metalwork being done. the only thing i really lost was the jic/uas suspension and the chassis. a few other small items but nothing to be too upset about.
i will be buying a new a32 to build, although my plans are different.

Different can be good. Just as long as its not differenrt from what you were doing and doing what everyone else is doing. What you were doing was definitely unique here. Id hate to see that uniqueness blend in with what everyone else does with their A32's.

flooded during hurricane ike.
i don't do the track thing, however i may hold on to the chassis and do something rediculous with it down the line.
no need to worry, my style will always be what it is. looking back i actually think i went a little overboard with this one. i was learning new things and tried to cram everything into the build. the next one will be much simpler, but a nice mix of luxury and performance. i also think the i30 will be a better platform for me.

was this in your shop? did your shop get flooded? ouch, so this is the first time you've seen the car since the hurricane? sorry for being nosey, just trying to understand, i know this situation has had to suck tremendously!

this was at a friends shop in galveston. i had seen the car but only in the dark since they still do not have power a month and a half later. it does suck a little but honestly i am a little excited to start with a clean slate. i had got in a little over my head on this one and it didn't seem like it was ever going to get done.

naw... the car was gutted. only thing i really lost was the suspension (~$5k retail) and the work put into the body/chassis. still have most of the parts for the next build, just need some $$$ for a new car.
