My 4th gen after 1 year

1st thing i did to my 99 maxima was put a set of cragar soft 8 15x7 rims off my old wrangler. Then KYB AGX shocks with eibach springs. for performance just an intake cone and a oval tipped fart can.

next thing i wanted to do was go WIDER!! so i went on craigslist and found a set of 15x10 mickey thompsons off a wrangler and picked them up. next step was tires, im unsure of what size i used because i only had them on for a week . it was impractical due to the fact it rubbed like crazy, plus the paint was in grave danger.

finally i gave up on going for wide wheels and i wanted to do performance work while making my car stand out. My maxima on the performance end now has OBX headers, full 2.5'' exhaust to flowmaster super 50 with dual tip, short ram intake, WORKING hood scoop, unorthodox racing crank pulley, competition lightweight flywheel, clutch masters stage 1 clutch. Battery now sits in the trunk. exterior i did one piece headlights, smoked the taillights. painted the grille purple to match my PURPLE RIMS

I'll give you points for originality. I'm glad you gave up on the wide wheels though. Those wheels just didn't fit the Max. The muffler actually doesn't look bad, not sure about the sound, but duel tip looks nice on a 4th gen.

I also remember your hood scoop being functional +1 for that. I still don't care much for the looks of it, but as long as it's functional it's not rice. Personally I don't feel your color scheme mixes well. It actually clashes pretty hard. The Dark green is not sitting well with the purple wheels or grill. I like the Hybrid badge for but I vote Sheen should take a hike.

This is just my opinion. You do what makes YOU happy with your car.

Not feeling it. I like the way it originally looked on the Cragar wheels before you started experimenting.

i loved the way it first started out with the cragar wheels as well. But experimenting is something i like to do. i saved all the original body parts for the car so i could go back to the original look if i wanted to. the purple wheels were something different and it was hard to tell what its going to look like until they were bought and on the car. people may laugh at it, but i did all the work and i like my car.

Get rid of the crap on the back...bumper sticker and "hybrid" (wtf?) Emblem and it'll be better. Oh and the purple grill needs to go too.

i guess everyone has a closed mine, hate or love it i got more heart into mine. i am not trying to build my maxima so everyone likes it, i am building this car so i like it lol. just like i took my bone stock 94 ram 2500 12 valve cummins and cut the side of my truck and sunk the stack in the bed just to make it different from every other truck. i also have a 1959 nash rambler im putting a 4 cyl cummins in to be DIFFERENT. never have i ever once entered a car or truck in a show because im not about that at all. doing this is a hobby that keeps me out of trouble and keeps me learning everyday and its FUN. call this corny if you want but try not to bag on my $#@T to bad im not bad mouthing yours.

Obviously you haven't taken a good look around this forum at other members cars, because you couldn't have seriously expected anyone to like what you did to yours. I'm not trying to criticize you, but what you did to your car is not only different, but creatively distasteful compared to those who have chose to travel a different path as well. The mods you've chosen to do to your vehicles were done because you have the ability to do so, so that you could bring attention to yourself and your ability. I applaud your courage to post pics of your creations, but don't expect everyone to give you a thumbs up or to hold onto their opinions. Look on the bright side, if you ever decide to become a car builder, you know exactly what not to do to someone's car.

i do miss those cragar wheels even though they were pretty heavy. i took the rims off for a few weeks and someone stole 2 of the rims with the two better tires.

This times 1000. Different does not equal good. This thread is a prime example of that.

If you didn't care, then you wouldn't have bothered replying and explaining yourself. I didn't say that you were worried about cool points from everybody. However, you did expect some kind of feedback, otherwise you wouldn't have posted the pics in the first place. If distasteful is what you call fun, then so be it. You keep posting those pics.

OP, you sound like youre taking the opinions well. So you probably understand that theres a mold on max.org that people rarely venture out of, including myself at times. I wouldnt take anyones opinions to heart. The craziest thing is people always say "its you car, do whAtever you want", but dont hesitate to say "its crap, you shouldve done _____ instead".

As far as your car, imo i dont think purple goes with dark green thats all.

Seeing this raises my question about the hood scoop. Is that as functional as intended? Ive been conemplating running cold air intake but didnt want to go through my fender.

I personally like the choice of Purple Rims and to Paint the Grille. Just that the Body Color of the car doesn't go with it. If the car was white, and you made your side mirrors purple then we would truly have a thread that is less hateful and spiteful and more appreciating. It's all up to you though.

the first picture.......... good lord i love it if you can make that work i say go for that, i know being that wide could cause some other issues but there has to be a way to get that almost modern day "rat rod" look and still achieve performance LOVE the rims. btw do you still have the black rims and tires? and **** the haters haha that thing looks so clean and aggressive, i have some 5 spoke factory rims i will trade if you're interested. and did they bolt right on no problem? if you're not interested i might just have to try and get my hands on come extra cash and buy some
