Schmelly's New Ride

Long story short the Maxima's registration is up and it needs emissions testing, but I haven't had time to track down the CELs between school, work, and track. So last month I seized the opportunity to finally pull the trigger on a MR2 while the Maxima waits on the sidelines :D
Its a 91 NA 5MT T-Top with 163k miles weighing in at 2646lbs without the spare tire. Its been through a neglective owner or two, but runs well and the previous owner included a handful of extra parts. Mods that it arrived with: -Full Aluminum radiator with silicone hoses -pokeball shift knob -eBay/no name STS -eBay/no name intake -"GodSnow" Fart Cannons -broken interior door handle -various missing splash shields -broken ebrake cables -heavy 17.4lb 16x7 wheels I have since replaced the ebrake cables and installed a header he included along with the stock muffler. The car will eventually see either my rx7 wheels or my other set of milennias along with more weight reduction and likely a 3mz-fe (3.3L V6) running on a 1mz-fe (3L V6) ecu. |
Sweet congrats man! Does this one have working AC?

:D It does for now.

Love that bodystyle....with a certain kit they always reminded me of the old Ferrari 308GTS/328. Would've liked one to toy with myself

I always loved them. But the problem around my area is salt destroys everything.Hard to find good cars and hard to keep them nice

Thanks guys!
The car has 186k miles now, and I've only put on about 200 miles since May. At this point 2nd and 3rd gear would give a nice little thunk/grind when shifting at high RPM. So I pulled out the stock S54 trans and replaced it with a 1994 Camry S51 trans. The '94 trans has similar 1-3rd gears (with upgraded synchros) and 4/5th are geared taller for camry fuel economy. I had to drill out the transmission case to swap over the S54 shift assembly in order to use the FWD trans in a mid engine layout. https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/maxima....0e4cde8bf9.jpg Left: S54 Right: S51 https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/maxima....c0c062e8e8.jpg 3D Printed Jig to drill S51 case for S54 Shift linkage. https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/maxima....8efde448f5.jpg S51 with S54 Shift Linkage |
