Just purchased my 1st Maxima!
As the Title states, I am now a proud owner of a 1987 Maxima Mega Max. I'm no stranger to restoring classic cars, Mustangs and Porsche. This is my first Japanese restoration.
Granted that I have little knowledge of Maximas, but thanks to this forum and it's members this is about to change. Being new to Maximas my contribution will be diminutive at best, but I will do all that I am able to find something to share with all of you.
I realize that my membership here is a privilege, not a right and I assure you all that I will conduct myself in a manner that reflects this realization.

Congrats I have a 1987 Maxima SE myself I acquired few months ago, addition to my 2001 Maxima. Like you, I appreciate the old classic of the Japanese cars of the 80's they are truly superb cars for it's time as well being head of the time. An equivalency of Infiniti's today cars. Hope you keep it in great shape, check out the 2nd gen forum where you'll find useful info as well other remaining owners out there with stuff to share their insights and experiences on keeping it pristine as possible.

I cant remember if I ever rode in an 80's maxima but I had an associate that had a late 80's early 90's Sentra. I do remember riding downtown a few time to party.
I remember the 80's being loaded with Oldsmobiles, Buicks, Pontiacs,Chevy's.
Chrysler, Dodge,
I guess the Maxima V6 was comparable to the GM 3300 was it?
GM had a Tech 4 TB injected option in the GM models or a Quad 4 EFI motor.
I guess a step up was the 3300 series.

I had only seen one of these cars previously, I don't think there were very many produced. I would be interested to know how many were made. I got to ride in it and I remember being very impressed. It's remarkable how much the Japanese improved their cars in just a decade.
Thank you for the information, I will be checking that out.
@Maximatech12
Those late '80's GM quad 4's were by far the fastest American four cylinder that I am aware of, but some Maxima's Like the Mega Max have the 3000 V6 motor that were mostly only in the Z cars. I don't know if any Maxima's had the twin turbo option, but even without it the GM quad 4's don't want any of the V6 3.0's, IMHO.
Thank you all for the warm welcome. I am really enjoying my Maxima project. Once I'm able to post new threads and when I finish the restoration I will post before and after pictures.
