New to Forum - Just purchased a 2018 Maxima
Just wanted to say hi.
Traded in my Altima (255,000 miles) for a 2018 Maxima S. Purchased through the Costco buying program (good experience).
I’ve always been a car/motorcycle guy since I was 16 (now 66). After college I worked for Garrett Automotive (now Honeywell) in their turbocharger division. Worked in the engine lab on projects like the Saab 900 turbo, Mustang 2.3L turbo, Mercedes 300 TD and Buick GNX Turbo.
Started writing for motorcycle magazines in 1998 and now write for Motor Age magazine. I have attached a pdf of the article “Connected Versus “Connected” Vehicle” that might be of interest to forum members. The article mentions Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. When I wrote the article I had not purchased the Maxima. Turns out that 2018 was the first year Nissan used Android Auto—now I can try not to crash while figuring out the app on my 8” touch screen—lol.

If you have Android Auto available in your car, yes. The advantage is that you don't have to mount your phone or any other screen. Your car's infotainment screen can be used for GPS, play streaming music from your phone, and have a better handle on phone calls and texts. Android Auto is better in every way compared to legacy connectivity options. And not necessarily to incite biased fanboy views, I objectively think it is much better than Apple CarPlay too.
