Can someone check FSM for me
Can someone check FSM for me
Before I buy a speed sensor to correct a dead speedometer and odometer, I would like to be sure it is not the speedometer cluster. Electrical parts are not returnable. I checked a 1996 FSM that a friend has and for that year the Speed Sensor is checked by removing from transmission and spinning by hand. A good one should produce .5V AC, yes AC. Could someone check the FSM for a 3rd generation for the test and let me know. 4th Generation is in section "EL" under meters and gauges.
same
I'm answering this question because you actually said speed sensor and not speed spender like a bunch of recent posts
according to my 94FSM (which would apply to all 3rd gens)
1. Remove vehicle speed sensor from transmission.
2. Turn speedometer pinion quickly and measure voltage across A and B (the two wires at the connector)
aprrox .5V AC
if you (or others reading the thread) dont know where the speed sensor is, do a search, I know it's been posted a few times before (I think by MadMax024)
good luck
