Is it possible to get factory Keyless working again, with an aftermarket system?

Here's the deal.

I got a Viper Keyless entry system installed in my car ( no alarm) cuz my factory keyless never would programm. For the factory alarm I would follow the stepps but when I hit the button it never flasshed the hazards again and wouldn't program. After reading another post, I wanted to try something that someone else did plugging/unplugging the receiver. SO i want to giv this shot but I want to know if this will not work since I have the aftermarket installed.

The viper is kind of a pain becuase I have to hold the unlock button for one second and let it go for the doors to unlock.

Thanks

KEvin

Do you have an aftermarket ALARM or just a KEYLESS ENTRY? If you have an alarm, it would just be effecieint to wire it up using the aftermarket's reciever in tapping to the required circuitry, such as the flashing lights. I would not tap into the factory alarm, because it might cause problems. If you just have the keyless entry system. the unit must have a "pulse-generator" which sends out a double pulse to the factory "unlock" wire (green/yellow wire). Here, all four locks will open with a slight delay, without holding the button momentarily on the remote. One press is all you need. Good luck!

Thanks for the reply, no alarm, just keyless. so with the aftermarket keyless there is a wire that will generate the double pulse. I guess they did use that because that asked me if it as double pulse before they did anything. But even with the "pulse-generator" there still is a 1-2 second delay before the unlock. I want to know if I can take that delay and get rid of it. do you think that's possible? I was thinking bypass the rellay for the unlock and direclty connectin it the circuit board. not sure though. I also wanted to tap in to the parking lights and have them flash whenever I lock/unlock my doors, know how I would do that?

Yes, you can bypass the delay by soldering the connection to the circuit board. I'm not sure how much faster it would be. I, personally, like the delay on my Viper alarm. If your alarm reciever has a "flashing" light circuit built in, then, yes, you can make your parking lights flash. In my car, I just tapped in the red/green wire in the light switch. One other note, though, when your lights flash, your dash lights flash also. I learned from over time, the dash lights burned out prematurely over time from continuous disarming and arming. So, what I did to bypass this was that I tapped the blue wire from the dimmer switch and wired it up to "true" ignition. This way, my interior dash lighting only comes on when the "ignition" is on, not from a 12V constant.
