Well

I use 80 ft/lb but I also check once a week. Never needs adjustment. Anybody else go this low. SHould I bump up to 85 (requires a new tq wrench as mine is only rated to 80)?

FSM specifies 72 to 87 foot pounds, I use 80 foot lbs when I torque wheels.

I use 80 ft lbs. It is the average of the FSM specs. I wouldn't get a new torque for only this.

I change my wheels all the time (racing wheels/street wheels) and I use 80 as well.
No issues.

I race on road circuits and 80 has never been an issue. I don't think you'd lose them at 80

After snapping a couple of lugs on SWMBO's van, I bought a torque wrench from tirerack.com (NTB played NASCAR on one wheel. They did replace all 5 lugs when I yelled at them.)

The 2002 owners manual says 80 lbs, so that's what I do. I've checked a couple of times, and they are staying tight.
