Hand brake light in ON all the time

My hand brake light on 95 gxe is on all the time. The fluid level is ok, brake pads are in good condition, and I have played with hand brake switch which is just a piece of metal touching a single wire connector but no luck. I do not have abs. What can I do next to get rid of this light? Is there a way to reset this light?

Check to see if the float that signals the lioght to come on when your fluid is low is either stuck or broken.

Those are the only two things that will turn it on in your car. One of them is telling you something.....

Do you notice that when you pull up on the e-brake that there is a very loose feeling, as though it's attached to nothing, before it starts pulling on the brakes? If this is the case, it happens to my friends Escort wagon and you may need to check the cable...

Hand brake as normal tension. It is not loose.
