Good cleaning = good surprises

Well my brother was getting married, so i figured what better time to get a good was on the car. I have a 1993 GXE. I first used dawn to wash the car. Then used Meguiars #40 inside. On the outside I used 3M imperial hand glaze and then 2 coats of 3M Perfect-it wax. I think it turned out rather well. It is a week later and it is still keeping its shine. Here is a pic.

Some time I get depressed when I wash or wax my car, because my grandmother didnt do a very good job protecting the paint. There are dents, and gashes the clear coat is breaking down and there are millions of scratches from the old clear coat that looks like it was scrubed with sandpaper, and tons of acid rain marks on the hood and roof. o I am looking toward the future to get a 97 or 98 MANUAL SE

Yes, he did (I'm pretty sure of it anyway)..

Before waxing the car, you need to remove the old wax.. Dawn is perfect for that part. I keep washing until the spong squeaks on the paint, then I know it's clean... then it's time to go over with polish and finally a few coats of wax.

I hope you guys know that dawn or any dish detergent will eat away at the clear coat and paint eventually.

I usually just use a mix of paint thinnner and nail polish remover, works like a charm.
