Chip on E-Bay that should give us 10 hp
Chip on E-Bay that should give us 10 hp
"This mod will add 5 - 10 fwhp depending upon additional mods installed."
Erm, yes - if the additional mod you install at the time happens to be a frankencar or something comparable!
Is this how they get away with it - by saying "depending upon additional mods installed"? It's a shame e-bay gets poisoned with crap, but thankfully this forum's around to help us all out.

Re: Re: Chip on E-Bay that should give us 10 hp
I'm thinking that it's BS. For some reason, although euros have plenty of ECU chips, I never see any real ones for Japanese cars. I was tols that the ECU's in Japanese imports don't react well to aftermarket chips which is why they usually run a piggyback system or a complete takeover program. I would like to see a company that can actually create a chip to replace the factory one in the ECU for a more aggressive ride. I have one in my Bimmer but for the Japanese market to get into it would be cool too.

I put a potentiometer in line with my IAT sensor and tried it on the dyno using and monitored the ignition timing using a OBDII scan tool.
ITS BS!!!
The MAF sensor is what is used to controll timing and fuel on our motors.

I know it's BS because it says u must run 92 after the mod instead of 87... You ALREADY have to run at least 91 pref 93. By his login g we would have to run 98 after this mod.
All the 'chip' is is a resistor that is spliced inline with the IAT (I think) and itgives a false low reading. Don't know what effect that would have on the timing or fuel or anything 'cos I'm not an ECU, but if you wanna try this then go to Radio shack and pay 25c for a resistor instead of $9 + $10 shipping

Yes, I am quite sure
It is such a BS...
Remember VENOM400?
It retailed about $300 for the Maximas. Supposedly, it would give my car 15HP at the wheels, but it turns out that the unit just tricks the engine into thinking that I am pushing the gas harder. So there it is, you feel more power because the computer thinks you are stepping on the gas harder.
By the way, someone did a extensive test with dyno, and it actually robbed you of some HP off you.

Hey guys,
I was the high bidder on this auction, and didnt really see this post till after I won. I emailed him saying that his item was pretty much a scam and showed him this link. He said

If that were true, then why would they even bother having the IAT, if it doesn't have any effect of the timing ot fuel mixture?
It is BS. my friend bought one of of ebay approx one week ago... it was sooo funny. it came in a envolope and it had the most vague directions i have ever seen in my life, and it came with so called "chip"... and i said to myself.. "hey that looks alot like a resistor.... wait a second... IT IS!"
it is only a resistor in which you can pick up a pack of 20 for fifty cents. such a waste of money, so somehow we retrofited it like the guy said, and we took it out for a spin.. IT MADE NO DIFFRENCE AT ALL. surprize surprize. i am actually surprized it didn't ruin anything. but anyway, don't even bother... take it from my friend's experiance.

To be quite honest, Japanese cars are pretty much perfect in the engine department. The cars are already tuned to pretty much the max that I think which is why there are no ECU upgrades. Where as for Euro's, companies tend to leave alot of room for engine management improvement. That's why Japanese cars have to either do piggybacks or full replacement systems. God, if the members of my Bimmer boards saw my post
But I believe this to the truest sense. Although I don't have a Japanses car anymore, I still keep in good contact with people who do and discuss this type of stuff with.

Everybody: Per the factory Nissan service manual, the IAT (intake air temperature sensor) feedback to the ECU is used *ONLY FOR DIAGNOSTIC PURPOSES AND IS NOT USED TO ADJUST ENGINE PARAMETERS*. The IAT is only used for mechanics at the Nissan dealer to review what's going on. Since this modification alters the IAT sensor feedback to the ECU, it is inherently *USELESS* for altering the operation of the motor.
To put it simply, you can install this device but the engine will still run the same way as before.
To put it even more simply:
IT IS A WASTE OF YOUR HARD EARNED $19.

Three pie in the sky gain figures for three different stages with zero proof apart from some weak previous clients testimonials. 17Kw claimed gain for the 'Gold' chip package, thats 23hp.

Lame with a capital L.
