Red/Clear Tails, reverse lense plastic removal too?? what about paint???
Red/Clear Tails, reverse lense plastic removal too?? what about paint???
The amber piece we all know comes out of the 97-99 tails and you can cut flourescent light covering and make your own clear/red tails which I have now and have done for many other people..
but has anyone taken the clear plastic piece out of the reverse lense and seen what it looks like altogether with no amber and no clear pieces; in theory "diamond cut clears"
i was talking with a few other people about this and we were going to try it and paint the inside of the lense (where the bulb sits) silver, because it is a matte finish and see how it comes out.. before i go all pioneering and rip my tails apart, i was curious if anyone had done any of this yet??
thanks..

Yeah, i did it. looks awesome and get all kinds of comments and stuff from all the max guys i've met. painted the metal that's under the amber/clear reflectors black. looks awesome. here's a link that has a pic of them.As you can see, i didn't paint the acual plastic, but the metal that's behind the reflectors.

I tried to paint the inside with some chrome paint and an airbrush...honestly, it wasn't that much better than the orgional plastic. I ended up pasting aluminum foil inside the fixture. It's OK but just OK.
I also think the floresent lighting plastic I used was a bit too opaque.....All you see in the daylight is an amber ball. I've been waiting to get pulled over.
Either way...have fun with it.

Regarding pics, I have some others but I don't know how to post them on the board and I'm quite lazy in regards to looking itup. If you want, I can email them to you. Like I said in my original post, I painted the metal black. Looks really good, especially on the black car.

regarding the black tails, they are extremely pimp, ive seen them in person, and in fact i took that picture, i dunno how it would look if you painted them another color than black, however his combo matches very well
