Rattling coming from clutch

Help...I have been noticing more and more a rattling sound coming from my clutch pedal area. It happens more at high rpms, and is very noticable when I shift at redline or rev to redline in neutral. It seems to be worsening as before I could only hear it when I shifted, but now I can hear it as I'm accelerating toward redline. I can kinda feel the pedal vibrating a bit, but maybe that's just psychological...it is definitely coming from the clutch/tranny/linkage area, however. Any one else ever have this problem, and what was the solution? Dealer has already looked underneath and said not to worry wbout it, that wherever it was it couldn't be fixed. I say anything can be fixed...help me out, please. I drive a '99 SE 5-speed.

Why don't you take a look for yourself down there?

I have been running cables for my soon to be ready stereo system lately, and while running the power cables through the firewall, I had a good look while I was down there, and all the pedals and linkages are easily viewed. I suggest moving the seat all the way back, with your back facing the car, lay backwards, with your feet planted on the ground, and your knees at about a right angle, with your back resting on the seat or the sill, depending on how tall you are. Then contort your neck so that your head is in the foot well. From this position, you should be able to see all the pedals as well as move them.

In all likely hood, you just have a loose linkage. Whether it's loose because of a loose bolt/nut, or wear and tear requiring replacement of a part, you won't be able to be sure unless you get down there.

If it is loose in the cabin, you should be able to determine this by doing what I just suggested.
