Free-flow cat and headers on non-turboed Max?

Good idea or bad idea? Will I lose low end torque because of loss of backpressure? If I won't then what brands do you suggest for both? I couldn't find this topic in the FAQ so please help out.

Backpressure does not create torque

Read this article for a good explanation.
At the moment there are no aftermarket headers that offer noticable improvement over the stock headers. If you want to upgade your exhaust a Y-pipe is your best bang for the buck option. Around $200 and 10-15 HP gain, I would recomend Warpspeed.

A free flow cat will only gain a couple of HP, that money would be better spent on an intake - about $125 from frankencar or $200 for the Place racing CAI.

That's it, I'm off to the FAQ!

Thanks for the reply. I am still used to the Chevrolet Vortec engines. On those if you don't have forced induction of some sort and you try to have anything more than a better flowing cat-back system you lose serious torque. I had headers and free-flow cat on my truck w/ custom cat-back at one point and it completely screwed up the
low-end. Thanks again. Much appreciated.
