Want to add dimming/fading interior light feature in my 4th gen....

Hi guys

lol this is my first time posting in the 3rd gen. Anywho, I need your help. It came to my attention that 3rd gen maxima's have the "dimming/fading interior light" feature. Like when you turn the lights off by closing the door or enabling alarm the lights fade out. I wanted to add that feature into my '96SE. Has anyone played around w/ this? like taken it apart or looked at it. I'm thinkin of taking a trip to a junkyard this weekend to look for various parts and whatnot and i'd like to know where i can find the circuit for this. If it's too hard or i can't find it, i will end up building it myself. I just need your guys' feedback and advice. Thanks

it's controlled by the "timing control unit" which is a small box to the left of the steering column just behind the stock security system

Ouch! That controls just about everything, doesn't it?

intermittent wipers
washer and wiper combination control (so wiper comes on when windshield washers are on)
light warning chime
ignition key warning chime
seat belt warning chime
seat belt warning lamp
rear defogger timer
interior lamp timer
door key hole illumination
illumination control (dimmer)

as for wiring, be sure to get the harness for the TCU and the wires you'll probably need to hook up are:
black - ground
orange - constant +12V
you probably only need this first power wire, but in case that doesn't work, these are the other 2 power sources for the unit
white/red - ignition +12
white/blue - ACC +12

light green - drivers door switch (12V signal when closed, ground/0 when open)
purple - output to dome light ground wire (dome light normally has +12V but no ground until you move the switch or open a door)
I would guess your 4th gen would be similar but I dont know for sure

good luck
