Transmission dreams of mine...

I know that this topic is lying around somewhere on the site, but I really wanted to get my specifics out and ask. I'll understand if one of you moderators comes buy and yells at me and Lock up this thread. I forgive you.

I've been wanting to do a Valve Body job and get a Torque Converter for my car. And yes, I'll be getting a Transmission cooler too. I've been comparing two company's work however. They are Level10 and MobileTek.

My question about the VB job is that Level10 will do the job for $700 and MobileTek will do it for $450. If they both claim the similar if not the same results, what's up with such a big price difference? The reason I ask is that I've seen more recommendations by the forum for Level10. But if they do pretty much the same thing, why is one better or cheaper than the other?

Level10 will modify the TC for $500, and MobileTek is in progress of getting that service through. But if the prices end up different again, my question arises again: why? What's special about one TC, that another is cheaper or better?

I really want to get this stuff done because I have been sticking my neck out for Maximas with people of the public, and they are just downing my Max because it's stock and slow. I want to show 'em that this Maxima Newbie can toast some cars! I also want to start posting in the "Best 1/4 times" forum".

Thanks in advance for any help. I know there are homepages where someone is comparing stuff... throw a link out please.

Get your torque convertor from www.protorque.com. That is where I got one for my 87se and it was $395. I don't know if Don still does the VB mods though. Some memebers have had a trouble contacting him and solving shippment issues. If anything contact him on the phone 1st and verfy that he still does the VB mod.
