5th Generation Paint: Update
5th Generation Paint: Update
I recently contacted Nissan to log a concern about the paint quality that all of us have been discussing over the past few years. The consumer agent said that no one had logged such a concern.
I highly suggest that you contact Nissan North America to log a concern if you are having a problem with the paint.
Due to a problem with my 2nd car I have been using my Maxima the last few days and have logged many new paint chips on my car. I don't think it is due to my commute path because I drive my 2nd car 28 to 30 days a month and only drive the Maxima 1 or 2 days per month. The other car has many less chips (or none) while the Maxima has well over 20. When something hits the side (not sure of the size because I never hear it) it leaves a gash in the side. The front bumper or hood just receive circular chips down to the primer. The paint physically jumps off. I knew it had gotten bad when, yesterday, I opened my door and hit a plastic bucket that goes in my jetski. The edge of the door chipped paint.
I thought all these concerns were due to the paint not having yet cured/hardened, however I have had the car one year. Please call with your concerns, I have referenced this site in the call.
