Rims/Wheels why stock?

I've noticed that many people upgrade their Maxima's with the newer Maxima's rims. For example someone with a 95 max might put on the 01 SE rims on the 95. Why is this? Are they cheaper than say Konigs or Enkeis? If they are fairly cheaper than aftermarket rims than I understand. However most "dealerships" charge a arm or a leg for whatever it is you want so I doubt it. Can someone advise? Thanks.

firstly, they look nice and don't scream AFTERMARKET like so many other rims. most of the people that buy them get them as take-offs or from totaled maxes, so they end up being cheap. buying anything from a dealer will cost you an arm and a leg, unless you make friends with the guys in the shop, in which case you might be able to get things a bit cheaper.

check the for sale forum, call local junkyards or just ask around where you live, namely speed shops or tire/lube/muffler places as they often change rims for people.

Chino:

I got mine as dealer takeoffs off of Ebay. The guy that sold them to me moves a lot of OEM take off stuff through his site.

I bought these bacause I did not want to attract a lot of attention to my car, they look nicer than the GLE sawblades and I know that they are made well.

The guy sells under three2o@aol.com.

Give him a shout or look for his auctions. I got mine at a great price.

Make sure that they are OEM's and not replicas. There is alot of replica junk that shows up there.

Any questions let me know!

like previously stated...i opted for a new maxima take off wheel because i am personally not into the flash and attention that aftermarket wheels bring. i also got mine from a seller on ebay that moves a lot of take offs. they sell them for a fraction of what you would pay at the dealer. the different year maximas offer great looking wheels and they fit the car perfectly without standing out too much.

i agree...i bought a set of 17's for $250 from a friend and i didnt really like them to much, it kinda yelled out "hey steal me" so i sold those for 375 and then got really lucky when my friend saw the 16 inche '99 rims, the 5 star ones. the guy had one siting in from of a gas station, i offered him 300 and got 4 rims with tires plus he had a 5th one for a full size spare...you just gotta look around for deals, i work at a junk yard and couldnt really find any decent ones that werent scratched but just keep a look out and you always know the cars gonna ride nice with stock rims

I got mine form another .Org member who was upgrading to 18"s. At the time I was riding on steelies with worn tires and needed a new set of tires. He gave me the wheels and tires for a great price so I bought them. Other people are right in the fact that they don't scream "Steal Me!" They add just the right amount of sportiness. I will be upgrading to conservative 18"s soon though.
