CHP Victim tonight

I just got pull over tonight by by CHP officer
in the freeway. He gave me a ticket for going 70 mph
on a 65 mph zone. Also, gave me one for no license
plate in front. This jerk look around my car 3 times
to find anything to convict me. I think he was just
jellous that he cant afford a fully modified 02 MAX.

How fast did he pull you over for? Some cops give you a roadside discount and write you for a reduced speed. Example...they pull you over for doing 76 in a 65 but write down 70 on the ticket.

Agreed....

And if people are already COCKY, as evidenced by the unfounded and stupid statement about cops not beng able to afford a Max (PLLLLEASE, its a $25,000 (more or less) car...not a freaking Lear Jet!!), I would imagine the attitude with which the officer was met had something to do with the 'inspection'.

Yes, I also am interested in what the actual speed was...

Perhaps you should review question #8 in my Maxima.org entrance exam:

Solve this problem: You just got pulled over after traveling 130+ mph, with clear taillights, illegal tint, no front plate, no seat belts on, no insurance, clear corners, outdated registration, alcohol on your breath, and marijuana in the glove box. How do you get that fascist, pig cop who's got nothing better to do than pick on innocent drivers like yourself to give you just a warning?

I would think that only going 5mph over the limit is pretty stupid. I mean, with all the HID thefts and crap, you'd think they'd have something better to do. Tickets = $$$ for city, thus we have traffic cops. I wish they'd just admit it, instead of "being there for our safety". -Not to bad mouth the cops out there that are actually making a difference instead of just writing lame tickets.

you can take that ticket to court and easily win w/ a non-guilty plea - going 5 mph over the limit isnt considered "speeding" is it? I thought there was a +10 mph grace limit

Anythig over the limit is considered speeding, that's why they call it a limit. However, most of the times they are lenient and don't enforce minor violations. In this guys case I assume he was doing well over the limit like others have mentioned and the cop gave him a reduced speed ticket. If he tries to fight it, the cop will have noted in the report that he was actually doing much faster. I was doing 90 in a 55, on Highway 37 between Indianapolis and Bloomington for those that care, when a red unmarked Camaro got me with Lidar. He pulled me over and gave me a ticket for 60 in a 55, which saved me almost $200, and reminded me that I should slow down.

Reminds me of a funny story about...ohh

ten years ago.
In Puerto Rico, a fad developed for cars in the opposite lane from where u were to flash their high beams if they saw a speed trap on your lane; this as a way of warning oncoming drivers of the impending danger....

Driving on a busy four-lane, slightly downhill and with a bend at the bottom (a fave place for ossifers (yes, ossifers) to hang out & catch one unaware (downhill, too...the bastards) one day I was duly warned & thus slowed to 61 indicated on a 55 limit...approach the cop car, he flags me down.

I pull over, very civilly ask the cop why is he stopping me, he tells me that I was driving 59mph is a 55 mph zone. I say 'yes' and ask him why that would be reason to ticket me given the average speedo accuracy is plus/minus a couple MPH...he answers gruffly 'I can cite me for doing 56'...I ponder his response for a few seconds, obviously realize he's gonna give me a ticket no matter what I say so I respond -again, very civilly and professionally 'yes Sir, you can but...I really hope it's not you that ever tries to ticket me for doing 56 in a 55 MPH zone because honestly...I will spend a long time pondering the profession of the mother of any such officer for a long time....'

My wife nearly croaked, my daughter nearly swallowed her fist to keep from laughing, the ossifer turned beet red -and gave me the ticket.

5mph over speed limit...that's some f*cking BS, even grandma are doing 75 here. I dun understand....who the hell is going to drive 65 when there's no traffic.

I believe the license plate thingy is fix ticket...and u can go to traffic school (that's whay all CHP officers say when u beg them for not writing the ticket). I would attend that online traffic school and get it done in 30 minutes.

Sometime ago I was ridding my bicycle in the city with my buddy friend, I was running my bike without helmet, we see 2 cops ridding their bicycles, they followed us for a while and after few km we clearly see that they were trying to catch us, we were ridding in a way so we kept them at a certan distance, I though they were after us for ridding without an helmet, they were really pushing it, but those 2 idiots didn't know that we have been bicking for years and we can ride for very long distance at a good speed, we decided to play with them a little bit longer, so we let them approach us at about 25 feets behind us when I ear the girl cops saying something and using a whistle, we kind of ignore it and decide to kill them ( leaving them in the dust ) so we started climb the Mount Royal which was a few houdreds yards away, he he that was the funny part as soon as they see us starting to climb and specially at the speed we were ridding they just drop off , cuz all this was going on for about 15-20 minutes and we could see they were very tired, when we started to climb I think they got the message and figure out they couldn't catch us. I cant describe the trill we had having those 2 idiots thinking they would catch us thank to our physical condition cuz those 2 cops would have prolly catch the average bikers.

That damn cop...

Giving you a ticket for speeding and not having a front license plate. The next thing you know he'll be giving you a ticket for having a punched out cat or a race pipe or something else illegal.

This is getting out of hand. Let's start a website called http://badcopnoticket.com and see if we can get a whole bunch of people to register their complaints of cops doing their jobs. Maybe we can file a class action law suit against the police departments in this country to get them to stop trying so hard to find out all the illegal things we've been doing.

Not sure that was something so unique to Puerto Rico. I think it is a somewhat universal thing when it comes to speed traps. At least it was common when I lived on the East Coast.

Good story!!

But seriously, most cops dont like gooks or negroes or hispanics, or any other minorities.
Of course, if you're from jersey or new york city, its like a human zoo up there, and these cops grew up with these ppl from all over the world, so they're used to it and they're cool.

Try southwestern virginia. These redneck cops, and even the judges, have never been out of their 15-mile radius in their life, and they dont like ppl like me.

If I'm sounding like a ignorant fool trying to stereotype the boys in blue, (or brown ), then forgive me, but everytime I read a post about cops, tickets and stuff, all the built up anger explodes.

Yeah, you're sounding like an ignorant fool. A really ignorant, fairly stupid, fool.

I believe that most police officer's have the wrong mentality for the job. They walk around thinking... it's us (johnny law) versus them (you & me). Of course, ALL officer's don't have this mentality but I honestly believe that probably at least 85% of the 5.0 think this way!

I know for sure that the one's in my city do. I'm pretty cool with one of their own and he warns me about other officers in town. He actually tells me not to pi$$ off certain officers because they will actually plant marijuana or other drugs in my car or home. That's crazy eh?

Let me ask you this? What makes these boys that live in my city SO different than the boys that live in yours? What makes me SO drastically different than you? Well... I concede that we all have more in common than we'd like to admit! 9/11 surely proved to all of us American's that we are all alike in many ways. We're all American for God's sake, that's gotta say something. Why can stuff like this happen here but not anywhere else? There is no good answer because this type of mentality and corruption is ALL OVER the country.

Another point, ultimately, we're all human. What's to stop Officer Bobby from giving James a ticket for going 4mph over the speed limit because Officer Bobby didn't get laid last night? Well? You're right. Nothing. Defend police officer's if you want. You're right, they sure as hell earned it. They do a lot of amazing thing's sometimes. There are a few out there that are really good people. However, there are a lot of other one's that deserve to be shot. Issuing a ticket for going 4 mph over the speed limit? That is a powertrip if I ever saw one!

I know you guys will be disappointed if I don't throw this in, so here goes: Thank GOD I have an attorney that will go to court for me anytime... for any of this crap!!!

Hey hokiemax, here is another one, that was few years ago, I was in Virginia beach for summer vacation. One morning I decide to go play golf, so on the green tee they hook me with 2 red neck guys, I'am always polite with people I dont know, so we each others shake hand and here we go driving our first shot, then between the hole, thay asked me what I'm doin so I reply IT consultant, I ask them the same questions, and both answer they are police officer (state trooper ), I'm like fock I wont be able to smoke what you know, anyway after a while they were tired of waiting for the people in front of us which were slower golfer's and as soon as they see they were black peoples, man they start bashing about the black peoples saying and I cite " we should kill all those focking negers " I was so ashamed and ****ed to be with those 2 idiots cuz I grew up with minorities, latino, black, italien I made a lot of friends with minorities, after earing their stupidities I told them, where I live if something like this would have happend I could have them cited in front of the judge and they would have been prosecuted for racism and prolly being suspended, cuz a police officier is suppose to show the good example to citizens. The next hole I told them that I was leaving the game cuz it is against my moral to play with racist people specially cops, I later complaint to the golf club manager that being on vacation, I cannot play golf with racist cops and have fun at the same time, you should see the face of the 2 cops they stop talking with me and totally ignored me until I quit.

Cheers

So what about the speed limit don't you understand? If the limit is 55mph, then going 59mph is ILLEGAL. Being illegal, a police officer is merely doing his/her duty by ticketing you. The fact that most officers will not ticket you for that doesn't make those who do on a power trip...just sticklers for the law.

There are a lot of laws in which there are "shades of gray." The speed limit, however, is not one of them. I simply do not understand the logic that brings you to the conclusion that a police officer should wait until you have broken the law significantly to cite you. You're breaking the law going 59 and your breaking the law going 69 and your breaking the law going 79. They are all illegal.

I feel your pain and would be just as frustrated with getting a ticket for going 4mph over, but it is pretty ridiculous to call enforcing the law crap just becuase you didn't break it by all too much.

I've gotta disagree with you on this one.

A 5-10 mph margin of error is assumed in almost all states. Photo radar vans in Arizona ONLY ticket you for going 11mph+. With the potential for speedometer inaccuracies, law enforcement GENERALLY gives you a certain amount of leniency for violations under 10 mph.

Yes, going 5 mph is technically speeding. But to be given a citation for that is ridiculous.....unless it's in a school zone.

You wouldn't even need a lawyer for that crap. Most likely the judge would laugh at the cop even harder.

I understand what you're saying... all I'm saying is that there is just some really stupid **** that should not be enforced. I'm sure we could all come up with several prime examples of this type of crap if all we did was watch the news for just a single week! The reason why our prisons are so overcrowded is because we put people in there for doing retarded stuff they should be fined for, not imprisoned for! Or wait, or maybe there are some laws that are just... stupid? Remember the prohibition of alcohol? Who ever thought of that one? What a retarded law. Well, believe it or not there are an awful lot more of them out there. I put giving someone a citation for going 4 over the speed limit in the same boat with prohibition of alcohol! But hey... it's the "law" they should get ticketed right? they should go to prison right? Well, right and wrong. It's the judges place to interpret that law and damn, unfortunately there are a lot of retarded people out there that support crap in whatever form it takes.

I think you're missing the point, bro. No one is denying a "law" was broken. Only that the cop who actually wrote up this citation has a couple screws loose. What a waste of taxpayers time and money. If someone with any sense at all receives a citation for 4mph over the speed limit, he/she's going to plead not guilty and get out of this without a hitch. But, what just happened? Well a bunch of people's time got wasted... and time is money.

No one said all cops are stupid... just this one.

And I hate hypocritical people, like police officers.
I was going the speed LIMIT(55) down Hwy 280, when a copper comes flying past me at about 70mph and NO he didn't have his special "I can speed and you can't lights" on either.
****ed me off, they go and barely do their job, then they feel like they can go any damn speed they want.
Stupid Bastards!

Perfect example of the typical police officers mentality that he/she is above the law.

lcf...I couldn't agree with you more. It is the judge's place to interpret the law and punish its offenders...not a police officer's place. Based on your analysis, I must assume that a police officer cannot be held responsible for determining the application of the law but only to enforce it by the letter. Doing otherwise, would be taking on the role afforded only to a judge.

I don't disagree with you that speed limits should not be enforced to the letter...because I believe the spirit of the law is the essence...that people should generally drive safely and not endager their lives or the lives of others. I also agree with you that most judges would dismiss a speeding ticket marked at 4mph over the limit more quickly than you could please not guilty.

However, criticizing the police for enforcing the laws is just plain ridiculous. Their job is to give you a ticket for exceeding the speed limit and, if you get one for going 4mph over, call your congressperson and tell them to change the law.

I'm not a police officer, but police do not deserve the blame for you getting a ticket for going 4mph over the limit.
