My New Addco RSB is on!!!

Well, my RSB just came in the mail today, so i went to the store and bought car ramps so I could put it on. This was my first under the car mod I'd ever done myself, and i was a little nervous. but it was relatively easy. I used digitaltexan2u's write up, it helped a lot, thanks. Anyway, it handles great now, its weird. As I go into a turn, it starts to sway, but then stops. and if i'm in a sweeper and hit a bump, the rear starts to float and stops. it takes a little getting used to. but lane changes are amazing now, and low speed accelerating corners are damn near orgasmic (yes, my GF has been out of town for almost two weeks now! ) The rear is much more tight and balanced, i was skeptical about these before I drove it afterwords. I must say, everyone get a RSB!!!

Oh, I have a bunch of the install pics on my homepage (click on the left) page 5. there's a bunch of ugly pics of me installing it too. Check it out, tell me what you think. I finished my ghetto grounding today too, final pic of that on page 4 if y'all care...

And one of the coolest parts was, i did the install in my parents driveway and my mom was helping out! She did most of the picture taking, but she helped out a little with the install too. How cool is that!

That is one cool mom

I hope you at least took her for a spin and see what the RSB is all about.

Glad you like it.

I just put mine in yesterday. It rides so awesome now. Everything is going pretty good too so far. I just used the instructions here on the .ORG, and with some advice from Soundmike and help from some local NW NissanX guys, it was pretty simple.

I just looked over the write up you used to do your install. Do you need to use a torque wrench in order to tighten the bolts that attach to the car/bar?

krazyd, you can get away without using a torque wrench. just follow the instructions in tightening it. oh, make sure you have a deep socket for the rear axle bolts.

Congrats on the install. I installed my Stillen RSB this past weekend and I have to agree, the RSB is amazing. Almost no leaning through turns, car is much smoother to drive now. I actually had the bar for a month before having the guts to install it. Now I'm wishing I had it the past three years I've owned this car.

I've had mine underneath my bed for nearly 6 months! Now i'm finally thinking about installing it myself

It's really not very difficult at all, just take precautions. I jacked up the car and used jack stands. Took a total of 2 hours because I was being careful. Of course, the Stillen bar has fewer parts to it, but it should be just as easy with the Addco bar.

I got mine from KMart on sale for $15 (regularly $20). It's yellow in color, heavy duty stuff.

I bought the ramps (yellow steel) from autozone for about $19. they work great, though backing up onto those things is a bit scary. and no, i didn't get a chance to take my mom for a joy ride, she's old and just went in and watched TV. besides, now i understand why people say the maxima seats don't hold you in - they used to, but now i'm dang near being thrown about my car in the twisties... and i won't even go into how much stuff gets thrown about my trunk now...

Ironlord, did you have to modify any of the brackets to fit. One semicircular ring and the other rectangular ring would not fit into the brackets. I had to bend them to make them fit correctly.

no, i just loosely put everything up and then tightened it all down. it wasn't perfectly snug when just sitting there, but when i starting bolting it all in, it all seemed to fit pretty dang well...

ahh yeah!!!

just got mine in last night... it was a biatch to fit the ends to the trailing arms... plus had to use a vise to squeeze one of the c-shaped bolts... anyway, took about an hour...

results... no more boat floating and body roll around corners...

i think it was a good mod.... now all i need are fstb, springs and shocks/struts... still want to keep engine stock... will put k&n drop-in sometime soon...

I didn't have a deep socket or torque wrench. Just used some regular wrenches to tighten it up once the sockets ran out of room.

I plan on putting my ADDCO RSB this weekend.

However the instructions that came with it are for a 95-99, but the bar is supposed to be for the 5th gen.

Just out of curiosity did you notice this? My theory is they updated the bar but never redid the instructions. I guess I'll know this weekend if I was shipped the wrong bar!

Did mine last night

I put mine on after I got home from work. The trailing link U Bolts were a bit spread, but a few good whacks corrected that. Got it put on and went for a spin out on the back road I live off of. TOTALLY DIFFERENT CAR! It reminded me of my 95 Altima when I went from stock suspension to Eibachs and KYBs. Wish I had the change in my pocket to do similar to the Max, but I am going to need to Re-Tire my car soon..The RE730s are great but my driving style roasts performance tires in short order.
For the money you can't beat a RSB for drastic suspension change. My brother has a bone stock 2000 GXE and he was blown away at the difference.

Very easy install. 30 to 40 minutes. I took it out for a late night spin. What a difference. For those that haven't done it yet, don't expect a night and day change but do expect a noticable difference. The car is completely flat through all turns.

I love my RSB. My dad helped me out with installing mine. The trailing arm U bolts were a b*tch to get on. We had to hammer them a little to make them go around the trailing arm. Addco did send me new U bolts, but I never bothered to put them on. Everything is fine, no squeeks or rattles.
