I need new rotors because these are slightly warped, getting worse, and glazing from being undersized.

AC works great

At first, I was disappointed to w/the AC on my 2K2 Max when the weather wasn't that warm and I had it only only briefly. Apparently, it takes a little while for it to cool down... once it gets going, it works REALLY well. I realized that one day when it was in the high 80s and low 90s outside...

Some on this forum have stated that if your AC came overcharged, it won't work well...

Damn, you must drive REALLY hard. I think the AC kicks *** and the brakes are ok for stock. MAybe just get some better pads...If you rotors are shot on a 2k02, you need to improve your driving, unless you are at a track school every week...

AC and brakes

The two problems I see with the AC are the poor air flow to the back of the car, and the auto temp. system doesn't seem to reflect the in car temperature very well. It feels like my 89 did a better job with the air flow.

I haven't had any problems with my brakes but I don't ride them very hard either.

I don't have the auto climate control either. Define "sucks". How long do you have the AC on for? What's the temperature outside? How long do you wait before concluding it sucks? Seriously, after a few minutes for me, I find the AC to be PLENTY cold even in high 80s and low 90s temps. I live near Seattle, so it's rare it even gets that hot let alone to 100. Have you taken it to the dealer to see what they say?

ditto, manual controls here. I'm in H-town and even in 100 degree heat and very high humidity the AC does the job pretty well. Add to that the ridiculous rush hour traffic and you get yourself a pretty bad scenario.

have the thing checked, perhaps you have a leak or just need some topping off.

Thats probably what happened, I did not think of that. Well I wont have them cut them and they sure are not going to replace them, how are the stillen slotted ones with the pads?

This is exactly what I was asking about here last week. Our 2K and 2K1 Maxes have sh&%tty rotors. Mine warped right at 23K. I specifially asked peeps about quality issues on 2K2's and 2K3's. The om=nly peeps that responded to my thread were happy as can be and seemed to have no issues whatsoever. Seems Nissan failed to improve the quality of their brakes on their 2K2's, what a pity. There is currently a groupbuy going on right now for rotors. I just received mine today. $225 for all four, shipped to Dallas, TX. I suggest you do all four rotors and replace the pads also. The whole thing, including labor should set you back about $500. I do love my Max but, my next car will not be a Nissan.

The group buy doesn't include 2k2 rotors (slightly larger)

My bad, I do apologize for that. Check out www.avalongracing.net or www.earricezone.com. Call them up they might be able to hook you up on the rotors. Whatever you do, I'm sure most folks would agree, don't replace your rotors with Nissan rotors, you'll just be further complicating the problem. As far as getting Nissan to take care if the brakes for you, good luck. The best they did for me was turn the rotors, few orgy members have accomplished any more than that.

The A/C on my car works pretty good IMO. On really hot days it takes a little longer to cool down but once everything is cooled off (interior parts like dash and seats) it gets down right chilly. I can usually run the fan on the slowest setting and be quite comfy.

Brakes are great, I've got 17,000 miles on the car and no hint of warping. Car stops straight and fast.

I've been getting the tires rotated at the Nissan dealership and they claim to use a torque wrench when tightening the lug-nuts. The few times I've had trouble with warped rotors it usually turned out to be over-tightened lug-nuts or some kind of contamination on the rotors.

One thing I don't use is the tire dressing that's popular with a lot of people today. I don't have any proof but I think it does get on the pads and rotors when you wash the car. Maybe it has no effect on the brakes but I'd rather not take the chance. Brake jobs are expensive these days, especially on 4 wheel disc brake cars!

Mine had a bad o-ring and didn't have much r-134a in it. Took it to the dealer and they replaced the o-ring and recharged the system. Now it cools like a champ.

overcharged..

when your system is overcharged, it will work great at less than 90.. over that, it starts getting warmer.. after 105-110, it just blowing almost warm air.
