Help. Just scratched a rim, what can I do???

Curb 1 - Maxima 0

I now have a 4 inch long scratch on the lip of the rim. Is there anything I can do or does this need to be fixed by a 'pro' shop?

As others may say, use the 'SEARCH Function' but then that would further prove that maxima.org is a database and not a forum.

However, I'm not that person.

Most curb damage can be repaired nicely for about $100 per wheel. You won't even be able to tell. Good luck, goto any body shop they usually have contracts with wheel repair shops, or look in the yellow pages for wheel repair.

Why repeat information that is already here? Also, repeated information can be twisted/distorted at times.

I'm sure if he searched, he would find a better answer than searching in the phone book for any body shop. Why not try a wheel shop?

I said in my post to try a wheel (repair) shop. We're taught when we are young that the yellowpages is a decent place to find places that we might not know off the top of our heads.

Why not just answer his question that we know the answer to and be on our way?

BTW RKS I second BrianV's idea of calling a bodyshop and see who they would get to do it.

I wasn't trying to cause a ruckus I was just wondering if this sort of superficial blemish can be 'repaired' at home.
Since it is after 9:00 pm here and combined with the fact that the only 24-7 wheel and rim repair shop just went out of business I was just trying to get a quick answer.
I should have used the SEARCH function but in a minute of laziness I decided to just type a question.
Maybe I should I restrict topics to a "Will my Maxima beat a ...." genre.

Yeah my mechanic/body shop got my dad's cl type-s wheel repaired for cheap and they did all the work. I just dropped it off and the next day it was done. Apparently they have a guy that comes every day and picksup/dropsoff the wheels. It was as easy as pie. In the meantime I had my dad rolling on a 16" stock SE-L wheel.

It was fixed to like-new.

Yes 5x114.3 (you should've done a search over at acura-cl.com for this information as I'm sure you would've found thousands of posts there about it, haha just playing). I don't know the offsets.

Going to the source is usally cheaper than going through a middle man.

The man even admitted he could've searched. Why then would we need a search feature to gather relevant information if it's not going to be used? Why have FAQ's is no one's going to read it? Why provide a site filled with knowledge and information about our cars?

I'm not arguing the usefulness of the search engine. However, it's just about assured that every single maxima related issue has been covered on this board. Thus, there is no reason to post at all. Thus, this should not me maxima.org forums it should be maxiam.org database.

I'll let you figure out the difference between a message board and a database.
