Brake "anti-rattle springs"???

So I changed my front brake pads for the first time this past weekend. The guy I bought the car from had put on some super cheap pads that squeeked like hell so I bought a set of OEM pads with new shims. So when i took off the tire and caliper, I saw these two little metal pieces connected between the two pads. Look in the Haynes manual, looks like theyre "anti-rattle springs". Put on the new OEM pads...they dont have the little notches in them for these anti-rattle springs so I just dont put them on. Does anyone know what the hell I'm talking about? If so, let me know if this is important or not...thanks

Yup - they look like 2 small wire like things that went into small holes in the pads.

Well believe it or not, OEM pads no longer have holes for this clip thing. Discard them.

Strange that the Metal Masters I just put on my car were equipped with the holes for those clips. I did reuse them.

Yeah, ok thanks for the info. I've had the pads in for a week and they work great, no sound, brake real hard. But then yesterday I was coasting at like 5 mph and hit the brakes a bit and i got this really deep humming noise, i could feel it in the brake pedal. It happened again a little later but hasn't happened again since then. Thats why I asked, wanted to make sure those springs werent really important...

I have a friend who got rear pads about 2-3 months ago and also recently got new rear calipers since he got the calipers done, there is a rattle coming from the brakes. When he hits the brakes it stoppes even if he goes over a pothole and when he releases the brakes over bumps it starts rattling agian. does anyone know why it rattles and how to fix it.

There is a larger anti rattle clip that goes up inside the caliper assembly. Was that reused on the new calipers? I'm sure the new calipers didn't come with it. It's H shapped.
