New Best time at the track!!! Ran two 13.8's with my 18's

Yesterday afternoon I took my chances and went to the track here in Atlanta for the first time. My first run was a 13.8!!My 2nd run was against a 5.0 with roll cage and that motivated me to try hard again, so I ran another 13.8 but at the booth they gave me the wrong ticket but good thing my little brother had it all on tape!!!
My trap speeds were 104 MPH. Also I will never deflate my tires again I ran crappy times because my tires would not grip at lower tire pressure!!If anyone wants the videos of myself and the other atlanta members let me know. I just hope you guys have DSL, Cable or T1 lines since the Mpeg is pretty large! My IM is hotspanishlita or latin250 I am on either.

On my way back home once again there was a loud old car coming from the track and as soon as I get next to him he guns it!!!so I quickly downshift to third and then 4th and pulled away from him, I had my brother and my other friend in the car as well!!!beat him. It looked like an old mustang or Camaro!!!not very knowledgeable in old cars!!!

I just want to say thank you Mardigrasmax for all your help and advice. I would have never seen 13's if it was not for you!!!! Thank you very much and God bless you!!!I really appreciate that!!!
Maybe we should get some stickers with Mardigrasmax performance :

Congrats Jay! But I thought you got rid of your 18"s? Slap some lighter wheels on there, less gas in the take, take out the extra weight and low 13s here you come!

Woohoo! Congrats Jaime!

Even though your 18" SSR wheels are light, the next time I suggest you drag with your stock wheels on the front with drag radials. Also, it would be a good idea to have your car dyno and tune.

Vyrus I got rid of my 18s but decided to stay with 18 and got SSRs in 18x8.5 and they dont weight much.

Michael I would put my stock wheels on but I spin too much on them no traction!!!!with the 18s I get instant grip since they are pretty big and a bit heavy they dont spin. I do have the vids and right now Maximum sport is about to watch them!!

Slap some radials or slicks on there (the 15"s) and you'll have plenty of traction.

Yeah, that's why I said your stock wheels and drag radials. You'll get traction for sure.

Wow, your car has a lot of top end to it, 15's with slicks would land you into the 13.3 area.

ooops sorry!!

I forgot I have the 3.25 pulley same as cheston.

I had to shift to 4th gear I was hitting 6600RPMS mighty quick!!!!so I had to go into 4th!!!

I am trying to payoff lots of bills at the moment but I am going to fine tune the car, I dont think Ill be going up another pulley size. I like boost at 3000RPMS, thats good enough for me. As for the lighter smaller wheels and slicks, I will most likely get that next year. I should have the blower and other expenses paid off. I wont be going back probably until Oct, Nov time frame.

Yeah, those Competitions look much better in person. They're much darker than the ones in the pics. I think I decided to just save up for the Volk's. That will take awhile though.

Congrats on the new times.

Use a smaller set of rims plus a set of DR's and you will be deep into the 13's.

Best of luck!

Matt I didnt check the temperature that day, it was not warm just fair but that does not explain the Temp. I should have checked it because I had a feeling you was going to ask. Sorry .

Is that a normal reaction time? I thought about .5 seconds was the norm - If it really was 1.27 seconds, then WOW! you sure made up for it.

reaction time has nothign to do with 1/4 mile time.. you could have a 5 second reaction time and run 13's and a .5 sec reaction time and run 15's with the same car..

teh clock doesn't start until you leave the staging area..

Someone told me on the BMW forums that the gunmetal SSR Comps is a TireRack specific color, do you know if that has any truth to it? I ordered mine from a place in Toronto and was "told" they could get them for me in gunmetal, but I'm still waiting for them to arrive.

I really cant answer that question but some kid posted that he was selling his 16's in gold or yellow color and that you had to special order them thru a SSR dealer and that they cost a lot of cash since tirerack didnt carry a 16 in SSR comp. But I really dont know but thats a good question. If you can run into the company that imports the wheels you can ask them. As far as the tire rack I m sure they get them straight from Japan in large Bulk.
