Coolant temp sensor. That makes some sense over the air temp sensor you posted before. I'm still not sure thats causing your stalling problem. A bad coolant temp sensor can make your car's ECU think your car is cold all the time or hot all the time. If you think about that for a second. If your ECU thinks your car is cold all the time, it will cause your car to run rich with fuel. This will probably set off an o2 code and perhaps also cause ping which will set off our knock sensor code. Ypu'll also get poor gas mileage.
If the sensor reports your car is running hot all the time, then once your car is all warmed up, (hot) it should run perfect. A problem will only be felt when your car is cold.
You have a stalling condition after your car is warmed up.
Again I say it's probably your MAF sensor thats causing your car to stall.

I went through this for the last 6 or 7 months...my car was stalling
like a ****...
I changed:
PCV
Coolant Temperature Sensor
Fuel Filter
Air Intake
...more I think, I just can't remember. (search using my user name and stall and you'll see how many posts I have on this!!!
)I also cleaned:
Throttle body
IACV
In the end, it was a faulty MAFS wire...

i finally got the coolant temp sensor replaced. I took me awhile to find where the sensor was. after locating the sensor I has a hard tim removing the plastic clip on the sensor, but i got a set of very sharp bent needles to get under the clip. then it was a piece of cake replacing the sensor
I disagree. My Volvo 850 Turbo once had a failing/failed engine coolant temp sensor. It didn't set codes for months. And every now and then, WHILE driving, the engine would die. Not that big of a deal if you got used to it, a good driver, and strong enough (no power steering). I'd just shift into N and start the car while rolling. But yes, this was a VERY dangerous problem. And yes, the 850 Turbo and the Maxima are VERY different. To be honest, my 94' Volvo 850 Turbo electronics/engine management wise, was WAY more advanced than my current 98' Maxima.
And even though there is coding in the Bosch (in the Volvo) Motronic ECU that is supposed to monitor the ECT sensor, it never set off a code. It was only through the experience of a long time Volvo mechanic that the problem was found.
And by the way, my car did run a little rich, but not bad enough set off codes. Just bad enough to the trained nose.
So just because you're not getting codes for an ECT sensor, doesn't mean it isn't failed.

maybe i'm just a moron...but i tried again today changing my engine coolant temp. sensor and couldn't do it. granted i was tired from having just installed my addco sway bar...but, the chilton's manual has weird pics of it that don't look right and i couldn't get what i think is the damn sensor out to replace it. can someone please take a pic for me and show me what it is so i know i'm not an idiot? tried unscrewing it but it just wouldn't budge. any tips would be appreciated. thanx

Here you go --> ENJOY!!!
in the first pic, you'll note the sensor --> it's the shiny thing with the grey clip.
in the second pic, you'll note where the sensor is approx. located...
