my 2k 5sp dead even w/330

was behind this 330 at stoplight, light goes green and he takes off briskly, I followed and lane ahead splits into two. I quickly pulled to the right and was even w/him through 2nd gear. In third, it was pedal to the metal, just letting the vq and the mods do their thing. we were dead even throughout...I was surprised to see him not walk away from me...we both shut it down as we were nearing a stop sign. I would of love to go through fourth and fith gear just to see who would walk who. oh well, maybe next time.....all and all it was pretting fun despite lugging 40lbs of stereo equiptment in the trunk!

First off i dont know what people always blame the stereo equipement. 40lbs aint gonna do nothing to your time. Shiet, you weight more than that.

But im not suprised to see you keep up with a 330, they are fast, but we all know the 5spd AND the 6spds are fast as well.

Dude, next time you run with someone, have 4 10lb bowling ***** strapped to your front seat or trunk. i didn't say i lost or won, i just said it was fun running with that 330 even with the 40lbs of stereo stuff.

"40lbs aint gonna do nothing to your time"....tell that to the guys running the 1320.

Adding 40 lbs to your car will definately affect your quarter mile times.

You wont notice 40 lbs performance wise. The rule of thumb is 100 lbs equals .1 down the 1/4.

Hmm, when me and turdz went to the track. He took out his spare and he got his best time of the night. However on the next run, he got the worst time of the night with the spare out. So go figure...

No surprises here. Once you're in a gear where you aren't traction limited there's little difference between FWD and RWD cars of roughly the same weight, engine displacement & state of tune, and gearing.

.....all and all it was pretting fun despite lugging 40lbs of stereo equiptment in the trunk!

Ummm, about that stereo gear. 1st thought - how do you know the 330 wasn't carrying 40 lbs of whatever in his trunk?

2nd thought, and FWIW, the difference corresponding to a weight difference of 40 lbs in a 222 hp 3400 lb car over a 5.0 second pull in 3rd gear would be a little under one foot. Less than a foot for an assumed 4.0 seconds spent in 2nd. That's how you'd see the effect of that 40 lbs from the driver's seat in back to back runs made against the same car - IOW, barely noticeable.

you're right, he could've carried the same in his trunk, or maybe more, who knows..

"the difference corresponding to a weight difference of 40 lbs in a 222 hp 3400 lb car over a 5.0 second pull in 3rd gear would be a little under one foot".....thanks for the info...i have no idea on how to calculate that(math is not my friend).
oh well, i guess that's why these stoplight skirmishes are so fun because you just don't know if you're next to a 12 second sleeper or a car off the lot........
