matrix - 98 reverse indiglo guages-- NEED HELP!!!!!

this is abit tricky. i have a 98SE, i bought the matrix reverse indiglo guages and tried to install them. in the process i ran into a few problems. the main one is that the temp guage needle doesnt have a hole in it for the stopper neddle. is it ok to drill though it or can i not?? the other problem is that tach guage stopper needle also doesnt fit 100%. the pre cut holes in it are good, but they arew just of by like an inch. the guages that need the stopper needles have to be trimed. again is it possible to trim without destroying the connection of the guages. any help would greatly be beneficial. and if anyone lives around bergen county who has done this to there 98 SE and whouldn't mind helping me install, ill gladly drive to u for the assistance. thanks alot

one other question while im writng this.

when i took out the guages i noticed that there were slots for a PRND21 setup. the only things missing were the bulbs, and the clear guage for it. is this a European setup? is it possible that the setup is active and only needs the bulbs and the guage? let me know, please. also my car is an auto, so from what im thinking is that it may just be a matter of hooking up the bulbs, cuttin the bezel and getting the guage for it.

thanks for ur time

Honestly, it doesn't sound like these guages were made very well if there are holes missing that should be there. Makes me wonder about the quality of these guages. I purchased reverse indiglo guages a while back and the only fitment issue that I ran into was that the holes for the needles were to small and I had to trim them. I would send them back and get a different brand. As far as your second question goes....

well i had the same problem, the gauges where made to fit 98-99GXE/GLE maximas, so this is why the SE's have the fitment problems. what i did when i had to install the gauges was i drilled the hole for the Temp gauge bump stop and i expanded the holes for the spedo and tach bump stops. Once you do this they should fit fine and work fine as well. Make sure you uses the double sided tape or the needles will stick.

Good luck.

PS. as for the PRD21 its there because the I30's have the shifeter display and both cars use the same gauge clusters, but i dont think Maximas are prewired for that.
